HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
While timing is everything in life, I cannot help the timing here. I made a reservation at this place one week before a literal cataclysmic weather event took place. Storm Leonardo hit the area this hotel lives. It devastated roads, flooded rivers and streams, caused outages, flooded homes and caused complete chaos in the region. I was supposed to drive from Marbella and stay one night. I heard of the news and destruction in the Andalucian coast and reached out to the hotel in hopes of changing the date so not to encounter the storm of the century.
I did not pay for the cancellation fee not thinking in a million years a storm would stop me from going to Cadiz. I was hoping the Plaza Minas Suites and the front desk manager Conchi Moreno would understand my situation and agree to give me another date to visit. He did not. He told me the storm wasn't that bad and I would be fine. I sent him several warnings put out by the department of transportation in the area asking people NOT to drive anywhere until the storm passes. Mr. Moreno refused and told me I should have paid for cancellation insurance.
I get it's better 'safe than sorry' and get cancellation insurance. This however, is a bit outside of the ordinary. Who'd expect a Cataclysmic event to blow through your area? Not only that, but what kind of human tells you to drive through it anyway? How difficult would it have been to be kind? I will be visiting Cadiz and you can rest assured I will NEVER come to this hotel.
