Room was not cleaned under sofa staff perfect breakfast good but evening menu not good bar had no bacardi and only 1 type champagne in the champagne bar

We are a family of 4 (kids 8 and 11) staying in a room set up as a family room - double bed and the kids sharing a sofa bed. The room was snug but really good. Each room is 3 old cells knocked into 1, with the bathroom taking up 1/3 or of the room. The bathroom was really good and enormous. The staff at the hotel were super friendly and helpful. The restaurant served good bistro food, and you could sit out in the courtyard which was very pleasant. The breakfast was also great and worth the money. The hotel definitely exceeded my expectations. The only issue (and this is no fault of the hotel) is that the town of Bodmin itself is…er…a dump! So you’re kind of stuck eating in the hotel unless you drive somewhere. But as a fun and interesting place to stay, and being very close to Lanhydrock, we had a lovely time. I think the other reviews slightly undersold it.

The rooms are really nice and the staff are friendly, but its let down by very poor staff training. The breakfast was a disaster, coffee machine broke, the buffet ran out of food and the wait staff were clueless. Lots of staff but they just didn't seem to know what to do in regard to clearing and laying tables. We were told the restaurant was fully booked for dinner but a quick look online showed lots of availability. Also the bar closes at 9pm so we did not get to try that out!!!

A brilliantly quirky hotel that has been sympathetically restored to a high standard. A great to place to spend a day or two. Staff are very friendly and helpful - good choice at breakfast - we had an evening meal in the restaurant that we felt was over priced for the quality. I enjoyed staying at the hotel. The difficulty is getting back and forth from the rail station. It would be nice if there was a shuttle or a designated taxi service.

This is a beautiful hotel. The room was stunning and super luxurious. The staff were super friendly and helpful and gave us a tour of the jails in the dungeons too. Breakfast was refreshing with none of that help yourself dried scrambled egg but freshly made beautiful food.

Ein besonderes Erlebnis: Das weitgehend verfallene Gefängnis wurde mit viel Gespür für Details renoviert. Drei ehemalige Zellen ergeben ein geräumiges Zimmer, schick möbliert. Frühstück gut, Dinner zu teuer für das Gebotene.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was great especially the service which was perfect. Food was fresh and the choice excellent - everything you could want in pastries, fruit, breads and the cooked to order hot options.

It is a new property attached to the Bodmin Jail, which makes for a convenient visit to that site (the museum and 4D experience as good). The breakfast is very good and the breakfast / bar staff were very nice. The checkin was mixed. I could definitely tell they treat folks booking directly much nicer (the person standing next to me had booked direct) than booking via Expedia. I had to ask them about included breakfast and welcome drink. The Expedia VIP gold perks were not recognized. Morning taxis in Bodmin are hard to get due to being contracted by local schools. The reception staff does not help, but I was able to find an independent taxi on the web. Our room was underground with two small windows near the ceiling (I guess they were old jail cells). Tried to change the room but reception said hotel was full (a bit hard to believe on the foot traffic and parking lot).

Everything and everyone were of high quality. Spacious room, great bathroom. Breakfast fantastic! We wondered whether there are plans to develop a green space-come-garden area, which would enhance the amenities.

Lovely hotel realy nice layout and interesting as well. The dinner was lovely if a little expensive. Breakfast selection and choices was superb.

The property was terrific. The redesign of the Jail into a luxurious hotel was fabulous. The service of dinner in the bar area was very good. The only complaint I have was that the young women at the front desk on our arrival took pride in being unhelpful. When we asked her where the entrance of the walking trail was she told us that she did not have a clue because she never walks and had never heard of a walking. She could have tried to be helpful which is her job. In fact the entrance to the trail was directly across the street and well marked.

Beautiful hotel friendly staff very dog friendly bed very comfortable,breakfast was very tasty and lots choice I recommend the eggs Benedict .

Fabulous hotel, looks brand new. Cells, sorry rooms were excellent, bathroom was superb with the stand alone bath was the highlight for my wife, bubbles provided also. Bar & food in restaurant were superb. Staff very helpful and always there to help. Boom this hotel and you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing breakfast, fantastic stay. A must stop-over when visiting Cornwall!

We enjoyed our stay the room is comfortable and clean. I just wish they have a brighter lighting in the room that the customer can use. Otherwise it is prefect.

Fabulous stay at the Bodmin jail hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the overall stay was excellent. Our buffet breakfast was 10/10. We ate in one of the local restaurants for dinner to save some money and was only a short walk to the town
