Breakfast finished before 0830, there was no milk also after that, which was disappointing! Rooms were clean and tidy! Staff were polite and nice

What a charming place! We stayed here in April 2026 with two other guest parties. It was peacefully quiet. There are no restaurants nearby, so plan to eat dinner here or bring it with you. A mini fridge and microwave are available. This is convenient to the Studlagil Canyon, which is why we stayed here. Our room was very comfortable with a large bathroom. Our hosts were friendly and offered some travel suggestions. We appreciated the inclusion of breakfast with our stay. Wifi worked great. Recommend staying here for the canyon hike or because you want to be in nature.

I was visiting from Florida, and spent one night during my circular road trip. Exceptional service, very friendly and breakfast was a welcome treat.

Don't let the frumpy pictures fool you. Place was incredibly clean, basic and comfortable. Breakfast was simple but perfect. Self service Gas pump down the street if you are traveling CCW.

called Hotel Studlagil to cancel our booking for the night, because all the roads were already closed due to the prevailing orange alert and blizzard conditions.
Unfortunately, instead of showing empathy, our request for booking cancellation was refused, despite our best efforts to reach out to both the hotel staff and Expedia.
None of us wanted this to happen, inflexible policies on the part of certain business establishments such as Hotel Studlagil leaves a bad impression for the foreign tourist.

We were supposed to be staying in the annex, but they moved us into the main building and gave us two rooms instead of one room, which was actually great. The northern lights we viewed from this location were absolutely insane. There are no televisions in the rooms, so if you fall asleep to a TV, you're gonna have to find something else to do. The staff was very nice, but breakfast was definitely lacking from the rest of our other breakfasts in our Iceland trip. With all that being said, I would definitely stay here again just because the owner was very nice.

The staff greeted us quickly and gave us a tour of the place at check in.
The room was clean and perfect for our needs.
The catfish at dinner was cooked perfect.
The breakfast was excellent and we never ran out of the essentials.
We saw the Northern Lights over the hotel that evening.
I'd stay here again for sure.
Thank you for you hospitality!

Pros: beautiful surroundings, close to canyon, friendly staff, good food, comfy beds
Cons: room was like a prefab shelter in poor condition, toilet leaking, insufficient heating, price was like a 4* in Tokyo or NY. I get it that we’re paying for the location and not for quality or comfort, but this felt like a bit too overpriced. It was the worst stay we had in Iceland, and in the top 3 of the priciest I ever paid.

Very friendly staff, quiet location and close to Studlagil canyon. Dining option is limited but the restaurant at the hotel is good. Breakfast is served included, a big plus since food is expensive in Iceland. Definitely Will stay again in the future.

Not a lot of choices in this area and it appeared to be in the middle of no where so we were happy to see a place to rest at the end of the day. The facility is definitely older, the glass in our window was cracked, and the room only had a portable heater. Saying that it was manageable for one night, the food was okay, and the staff was friendly.

Basic, clean and functional. Breakfast OK but below average for Icelandic hotels of the same price category. Would stay again for less money and option of not having breakfast.
