We had an amazing time, the surroundings are just incredible,so beautiful and peaceful. My family really enjoyed the barn and we played board games, lit a fire which was fabulous. The option to BBQ also.We had such fun.Our huts were just gorgeous, everything was spotlessly clean, the bed was so comfortable and the bedding was to a very high standard. We took a stroll through the meadow and had a turn in the paddle boat on the the water on the grounds,so much fun.The hosts really take great care of this magical piece of Ireland, lots of thought goes into the guests stay and the eco system which is beyond compare for me.The food provided was delicious... a real feast for the eyes and the tastebuds, astounding efforts went into this we felt really well taken care of,but above all else was our wonderful host Mary..what an incredible woman she is! Mary has a wonderful warm and friendly personality,we felt like we were friends rather than guests, she was so welcoming and informative of the surroundings and all the place had to offer,Mary and her team do a really great job with the huts, the barn the gardening is all done to such a high standard, and you can feel the love here. Many thanks for a wonderful stay and your homemade food is fantastic!!!

This was such a welcome change from the hotels we’d been in nights before. Mary was an absolutely wonderful hostess. We picked up wine, cheese and bread before arriving and sat in the courtyard of the barn. Piper, the family cat, stayed close and enjoyed the ear scratches. We sat in the loft of the barn in the evening and enjoyed the cosy comfort and the wifi. We walked the trail around the property. A little forest bath before bed. The hut was comfortable….perfect really. Breakfast in the common area was perfect for us as well…homemade sourdough bread, farm fresh boiled eggs, lovely selection of healthy cereals, preserves, French press coffee and fresh fruit. Washrooms…..so well done. Large and well-equipped. This is really a unique and special place and you get to stay there for a very reasonable price.

It is a stunning property cared for by a kind and welcoming eco-conscious couple. It is peaceful and a balm to the soul. The continental breakfast included homemade bread and jam. Just delightful! It was a great first stop in Ireland.

I really enjoyed my stay in the Blackstairs Shepard hut. The facilities in the main building were excellent and the hut was cosy and comfy with everything you'd need for a good night's sleep. Mary was full of helpful tips and suggestions for things to do in the area. The property was beautiful and the area was quiet and relaxing. Such an exclusive place to stay too as only 4 huts on the site. The location is great for exploring the local area and a couple of counties!

Evan and I had the most incredible time here! Such a truly beautiful property with the most welcoming and warm hosts. This is a true top spot for any outdoor/nature enthusiast; the grounds and gardens are spectacular, the huts and barn are lovely, and they truly do have sustainability, eco-friendliness, and environmental consciousness at the heart of the experience. The location is exceptionally well situated - it feels remote and cozy yet is near a wealth of little gems to explore. Between the river-way, the towns, the mountain trails, and the property itself, there is so much to do and see (and something for everyone). We would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you for a wonderful stay, Mary and Robert.

We stayed in one of four Shepherd Huts. Breakfast provided in the mornings. Mary makes homemade sourdough bread every morning, which left hubby in heaven! His fave bread. We've never had better. The bathroom and bathing facilities are great. There is a swing from a tree that we enjoyed as well as tramping through their woods, and maze, and trails. It's all so beautiful and peaceful❤️ We'd love to come and stay longer than two nights. It was the tranquility we needed. Robert and Mary work really hard, and are earth friendly in every way. Piper, their rescue cat is a sweetheart, too!❤️
