Excellent stay. It’s not clear from the Expedia listing but El Cielo is a small gated development of approx 14 units. The grounds are secure, well lit and beautifully landscaped. It’s around an 8 minute walk from the center of Bosquete. That’s close enough to easily walk into town but far enough away to be quiet. Boquete gets real noisy at night with several places competing to have the loudest music! Even so… nowhere in Boquete is immune from the discos so even El Cielo was a touch noisy Fri and Sat night. And the darned barking dogs which are everywhere. But neither are in El Cielos control. Apartment looked brand new. Lots of windows. Big bathroom with huge shower. Well equipped kitchen. Super clean. If I had to quibble, hot water takes two or three minutes to reach sink, long enough that you start to worry it’s broken. Very responsive host. Check in requires an online form be filled in before door code is provided… so watch for that form the day before you arrive and be sure to fill it in. We did t do this but host helped us via WhatsApp and got us checked in fast. All The local guides and taxis know the location, so shuttles to airport and transportation to events was easy. Try for one of the four upper level units. I think Expedia calls them ‘view’ units? From these units the windows and balcony give beautiful Mountain views.

There is no reception. I thought it was a hotel, not an apartment. They sent a message to fill out paperwork ahead of time to save time at reception, but there was no one there. So you have to download and esign a document that you can't read on a phone, then upload your passport. I saw four other groups standing in the rain or darkness over the next four days. They also took about 45 minutes to get door code. Note that once I had the door code they ignored me. They would not answer phone, would not answer text, would not reply to emails, and I even downloaded whatsapp. Ignored me. Which sucked as there was no internet and there was no water pressure. They had also offered purified water and laundry? Where/how? My phone bill was $132 vs the normal $25 as I had to use data and could not make phone calls over wifi.

Had a wonderful stay at El Cielo by Villa Alejandro. The villa was perfect and ideal for a family of 4. Beds were a good size and mattresses were comfortable. Bathroom was clean and water temperature was just right. Tea / coffee was available in the villa (both kettle and coffee machine were available). Location can’t be beat - within 5 minutes walking distance to town center. There’s no office on site but they have a person or two on site through the day. Check in was smooth through WhatsApp. The main office was very responsive via WhatsApp. They provided us restaurant recommendations. They also help organize tours, if needed and helped us arrange transport to Bocas Del Toro. The view from the villa was breathtaking. Our favorite part was enjoying a cup of coffee out on the porch. All in all - we had a great stay here. Would highly recommend - if you’re looking for someplace quiet and peaceful and are okay with no onsite restaurant or daily cleaning.

The photos here are NOT representative. Furnishings were old and well stained, carpets dirty and matted. There is no front desk or reception, and they didn’t answer the phone number posted. The only contact is through WhatsApp. You must checkin online, and their system is faulty. Laundry is not included, you must pay for one small laundry basket. The property was quite misrepresented.

We had problems getting the staff to clean our rooms or restock our fresh water or do our laundry. There are no employees that stay on site. They are brought in by van daily and don’t stay long. All communication is via a chat bot

We stayed here for a week while in Boquete and already plan to stay here when we return in a few months. The accomodation was clean with a well-stocked kitchen. The location is perfect to walk around the wonderful shops and restaurants in Boquete. The management team was very responsive to questions, ect. The accomodation is bright and airy and is perfect for short and long-term stays. We cannot recommend El Cielo enough!

The good: The kitchen was adequately equipped for a short-term rental. Staff were friendly and helpful when they were present. Air conditioning was not necessary, although it was helpful to reduce indoor humidity after we used the shower. The bad: The room was generally clean, although small millipedes were able to make their way indoors despite the windows being closed. Dead bugs heavily populated the sliding window tracks. An occasional vacuuming of the window tracks would make the unit more visually appealing. Large open space (>25mm) under the front door invites the entry of bugs, but insecticides are commonly used in Boquete to keep bugs in check. Human comfort appears to take precedence over the welfare of nature.

This property is within a short walk of the main street through Boquete. It's close to everything but still quiet. Our check-in was easy. The property manager sent us all the information we needed on WhatsApp to get access to our casita. Our casita was clean and modern. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including a small kitchen and sitting area. One of my favorite things about the property was the covered patio outside our room that let us watch the birds and look up into the surrounding mountains. Keep in mind that this property operates more like a vacation rental than a hotel. This worked perfectly for us, but some people might prefer a hotel atmosphere with on-site dining and bar options. In this rural setting, we enjoyed getting out and walking to all the local hangouts.

We had high hopes for our stay at El Cielo by Villa Alejandro, but unfortunately, our experience was marred by poor communication and ongoing construction. We tried to contact the hotel several times before our arrival to let them know we’d be a day late, but despite multiple calls and messages through the booking app, we never received a response. It wasn’t until we arrived at the hotel and spoke with a housekeeper that we finally got in touch with someone. This lack of communication was frustrating and caused unnecessary stress. Additionally, there was no mention at the time of booking that the hotel was under construction. We were woken up every morning at 7 AM to loud hammering and drilling, which continued until 5 PM. This made it impossible to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Boquete. While the room was decent and the location is great, the constant noise and lack of communication were major drawbacks. I understand renovations are necessary, but guests should be informed in advance. If I had known about the construction, I would have chosen a different place. Hopefully, the hotel will address these issues for future guests, but we likely won’t be returning unless improvements are made.

A ceiling fan would make a great addition. We used the air conditioner part of the time but with a fan wouldn’t have needed to.
