À part la vue sur le lac....rien de positif. Cet établissement à besoin de beaucoup d'amour. Toiles d'araignées, moisissures. Chambre avec le strict minimum de commodité. Personne à l'accueil très nonchalant. Pour 200$ la nuit, je m'attendais à mieux. Les photos sur le site ne représente pas la réalité....

The Golden Sands was a really good place to stay. Amazing view and private patio area outside the room. Well recommended for anyone thinking of staying in and around Algonquin.

We left after 1 night of a 2 night stay.

So the beds were comfy. I will say that. However I expected better. Unfortunately it seems to be struggling. I’m sure it is difficult in the country to upkeep property. But there could be little touches that would go such a long way to making the glitches that can’t be fixed better. We were visiting friends at a nearby cottage and wanted a place to crash on our own. Plus the pampering of a tv and wi fi meant I could catch up on some things and my kids could have a wind down screen time at the end of a swim day. But when we came back to our room (on the beach down the rather paint peeling steps) we were unable to get the wifi to work. I tried tv. It would not turn on. So I called. I was told the remote is finicky.wi fi awful for our room. (It’s not starlink clearly) Fine. First world problems. The woman showed up anyways. Tv was unplugged. When trying to turn off later I discovered why. It would not turn off with remote. The door chain lock was missing. Just a little door lock with knob. Fine we are in the country. Ceiling has a huge water stain. Leaks happen. But it didn’t end with just those things. Bugs in the light. Drain is pure rust. And so is the plug (cheap to replace) mold growing in corners. Dehumidifier so full it was heavy to dump. But did smell slightly better. Fridge old and scratched up. Coffee maker looked sketchy. The bedding had blood stains. Blind was not attached. No key drop off. Woke by loud steps from upstairs room. We won’t be back sadly.

Beautiful beach

Nice relaxing stay at Sands. The view and lake are beautiful.

The room was recently renovated and spotlessly clean. Bed and bedding were wonderful. Best shower pressure I have had at a motel in a long time. Beach was wonderful and the view breathtaking!!! Wee bit disappointed with continental breakfast but we made due. Because of the impossibility to get staff, the restaurant had limited options and hours. Wish they had microwaves in rooms so we could have made our own food. We will definitely be back but better prepared for meals. There are few restaurants in the area. Thank you to Sands and staff for a great mini vacation.

Nous avions louer deux chambres une était très propre et très grande l’autre assez normal je crois qu’il n’était pas prêt à recevoir des clients le Lobbé n’était pas prêt et ´ extérieur de la bâtisse n’avait pas été nettoyé du tout Les commodités de restauration annoncer n’était pas prête Sûrement que plus tard dans la saison le tout devrait rentrer dans l’ordre

Staff went above and beyond and the lake was great for a swim after a long day on the road.

The water has smell . Bfast not included , it should be nice if there’s a free bfast because of the location .

There was no hot water in the room and the mattress was worn out and lacked support. I left with a back ache. When I brought the lack of hot water to their attention in the morning, I was told “yeah room # - doesn’t have hot water in the sink, you should have tried the shower.” There was no way I was going to shower with cold water. No price adjustment was made. The property has a beautiful view of the lake, and a quaint ambiance. I want to support local business, and I did not want to travel to a large chain hotel in Pembroke, even for a cheaper price. Overall, the Sands could use some improvements. For the $200 price, I was seriously disappointed. Make the trek to a better hotel for your money. It had recently snowed, and the walkway was not cleared at all.

Incredible stay at the Sands on Golden Lake. We arrived by snowmobile, and Zach checked us in, gave us the keys to our chalet, and also made us takeout. He even delivered the food to us! The chalet was perfect, looked to be newly renovated and had everything we needed. We departed by snowmobile in the morning and there was a grab and go type of breakfast for us. Perfect! The OFSC snowmobile trail goes right through the property. Move love needs to be given to the Sands, and it should be a haven for passers through, and snowmobiling. Thanks for everything!

The scenery was fine, but ths staff, such as there were, were unfriendly and unhelpful. Restaurant was closed three days of the week, but there was no microwave in the room, and nowhere closeby to have a meal.

I’m giving this place 5 stars mainly for the beautiful location and calm atmosphere. The room I got was a bit older and could use a few updates, but everything felt generally clean, no unpleasant smells, just a little dust here and there. What really makes Sands on Golden Lake special is the view, absolutely magnificent in the early morning, and at night the sky is filled with stars and even a glimpse of the Milky Way since it’s tucked away in the quiet countryside. It’s a beautiful spot for anyone who wants to relax, disconnect, and enjoy nature’s beauty.
