overall great stay, would stay here again

Wonderful hostel in a fabulous location! The place is clean, comfortable, and a really good value. The staff were friendly and responsive (thank you Christian, Nacho, and Malik!!). I would stay here again and would recommend Hostal Boutique Merced 88 to friends visiting Santiago.

Too many permanent residents were noisy past midnight. The street noise is loud and insulation between rooms is very thin. It was clean and the bed comfortable.

My stay at Hostel Boutique Merced 88 was absolutely amazing. Raul is absolutely phenomenal. The staff were very helpful. Rooms and washrooms are clean. The location is premium, you can walk to almost everything (the park, the station, convenience stores, schools). Highly recommend and will definitely come back!

Nice place to stay close to city center

Easy check-in and check-out. Clean and spacious room with good AC. Many places of interest are within walking distance and the immediate area is safe. I would stay here again.

It was ok.

Great staff, clean spacious private rooms, with lots of nice amenities: eating area, lounges, pool table, gym and bar. Some issues with street noise, but other than that no complaints. Would definitely stay here again in future.

Hostel staff are very friendly and accommodating. The location is excellent, next to the bohemian district and also close to Cerro Christobol. The metro station, intersecting both line 1 and 5 is within a couple of minutes of walking distance. We reached a few hours before the official checkin time, but we were given the room that was very helpful. The only problem we had was because of the heavy rain on the second day, there was some water leak from the ceiling in our room. But we were shifted to another room almost immediately after we reported.

Merced 88 was a great hostel. Excellent service from staff, place was clean with great showers. Has large wooden lockers in rooms that you provide your own lock for (I'd imagine you have some on your luggage. Plenty of space in dorm rooms. Conveniently located near a subway station so you can catch the Metro to the hostel from the airport (well you take the public bus to the nearest metro station first, but a lot cheaper than catching a taxi). Basic free buffet breakfast included (no bacon, sausages or things like that) but you get two boiled eggs, bread, cereal, juice, fruit. Next to a park with the best of the fountains/sculptures of Santiago out front. Not far from a large supermarket (go left out front door, stay on Merced, walk for about 6 or 7 minutes). Across the park and the Terminator 2 drain river thing behind, about a ten minute walk from the hostel is the Funicular which takes you up the mountain to the cable cars and religious character statues.

I really enjoyed my stay, the staff was excellent. Juan and another gentlemen (I can’t remember his name at the moment) were really nice to meet and accompany for a little while at my stay. Thanks for all the hard work !

I really liked the professional services of the staff at the reception. Both Antonia and Dominique were excellent and greatly performed their jobs with utmost care and pleasing services. Other staff were also friendly and hard working as well. Thanks

Front desk staff gave lots of resourceful information prior to arrival. They were responsive and helpful. On arrival, it was a little challenge to identify the hostel as there was no sign and the door was closed. They explained the reason and also advised on the safety when going out. They supported how to find PCR testing center. Nathan & Mila speak good English and respond quickly whenever I sent them a message. I was very thankful for their excellent service.

Now is not the time to stay here. It is completely defaced, I got tear gassed from the protest out of my room, it is so loud as it’s right in the middle of the revolution... This place had no disregard for its guest as I kept being told it’s fine when other places I dined at always offered transportation. Very cute room but the floors were so dirty I had to wash my feet and then tip toe to bed so I didn’t have dirty feet in the bed (should’ve wore slippers). Just not a good stay besides the kind front desk people.

Great value for the money. The kind of place you stay when you are young & idealistic & broke. Not necessarily for traveling retired grandparents.

I read a couple of negative reviews and nearly didn't stay here. But I did stay and the staff here are what makes this place AMAZING!!! I have never experienced such amazing service.They went out of their way to advise and help me on many occasions. They are also keen to see Guests are happy and socialising with each other. To this end they have various themed evenings....on tuesday evening it was free Sangria and music. Wed was a party atmosphere but I was too tired to stay and wednesday was free Pisco Sours and I missed unfortunately to go to airport. The dorm rooms were clean, comfortable beds ,spacious and with lockers and bench space....what more do you need! The bathroom was cleaned often in the day and shower fantastic! I cant say enough for this place, its simply great! Oh and a cheap bus from airport to Los Heroes then Metro to nearest station Baquedano. Only 50m from Merced88.
