Beautiful place where you can definitely unplug and recharge energies. Olga and the staff were friendly, professional and extremely helpful with our requests. Delicious meals prepared with local ingredients so our experience allowed us to enjoy the Colombian cuisine to the fullest. It’s worth to highlight that the arrangement coordinated with the hotel for our transportation from and to Cartagena has been great. Jhony is an excellent driver, very knowledgeable and respectful so we felt safe going to Playa Manglares and returning to Cartagena. It’s a beautiful place, a gem that we are so happy to have chosen for our stay while visiting Colombia. Tour to nearby islands and other activities are also facilitated if you ask for recommendations as Olga has been very welcoming.

This place and service lived up to the very high bar I've seen set by other reviewers. It's hard to put the atmosphere into words, except calming & magical. It's simple and rustic, but also stylish, and every detail is thought of. The owners were gracious and helpful. Helped us arrange a taxi to the aviary and a day-trip semi-private boat to the Rosario Islands which was exceptional (do this instead of Playa Blanca). Wonderful accomodations and vacation.

This property is fabulous. It is in a close location to Playa Blanca in Baru, it is very quiet, safe and beautiful. The beach is not white sand, but you can definitely go in and swim. This property is surrounded by trees and it is right by the ocean. You can see and hear the beach while you have breakfast/lunch dinner. The staff is fabulous and the food is great. Bring mosquito repellant as there are mosquitoes at night, though the beds have mosquito netting too. The only draw back is that it has no Air conditioning in the rooms. They do have fans though. As a Canadian we melted, but we throughly loved the place. I would recommend and stay in this place again.

The property is pleasant, situated next to the bayaide of Baru. As a result the beach can be a bit smelly from the waste water from the local village. Also on the weekends expect to hear loud music from the village, even though it is 3 kms away. Also there is no A/C in thebrooms or hot showers. The price is really too high for what you get - no pool etc. The local beach, Playa Blanca is extremely dangerous and I would not recommend under any circumstances that you go there. We were basically kidnapped and held hostage until we were taken to the village and forced to pay a large sum on our credit card in order to be freed up. If you dare to venture outside of the property expect to be constantly hassled by people, they will stand in the middle of the road and try to stop your car - ignore them and run them over if you have to. They want to rob you. WATCH OUT. I would not recommend visiting Baru, spend a little more and go to either Tierra Bomba (Blue Apple) or any of the lovwly lodges in the beautiful Rosarios Islands. Baru is not worth it at all!

I loved my stay at the Hotel Playa Manglares. It's a truly unique place in a beautiful secluded location right on the beach. Olga and the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and helped me book activities during my visit. This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing beach vacation.

Beautiful quaint hotel about a 5 minute drive from the busier Playa Blanca area. A great option to relax with your own private access to the ocean and still close enough to easily access the activities at playa Blanca or boat tours of the nearby islands. Olga is a wonderful host and very helpful with logistics. The hotel food is homemade style and very delicious.

Our Playa Manglares experience was great. We were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. Upon our request, Olga and Juan Camilo organized a very special dinner on the beach for us, lit by torches, candles and decorated with flowers. The setting and food was unforgettable. Playa Manglares is an eco-hotel so it requires a different mindset and expectations. One has to appreciate that commodities in a remote location are difficult and expensive to provide. Air conditioning is not provided. Our room had 3 fans so we re-located them surrounding our bed and the temperature was manageable. The view from our room was incredible, overseeing the mangrooves, the property gardens and the ocean bay. We were lucky to have a clear night and the sky was dark so we enjoyed the stars. The food was consistently good. Service was very attentive. Daily mojitos are brought straight into your room. The beach is not the manicured Caribean beach one sees in resort brochures but the setting is amazing. The only creatures you will share the beach with (besides the few other friendly guests) are pelicans and other exotic birds. The trees along the beach have tiny flowers that attract hundreds of butterflies. Laying on the hammocks by the beach is meditation heaven. The open shower on the deck, under the trees and bay view is a very unique experience. The nearby Aviario Nacional is worth a trip to Colombia.

The owners are lovely people who really care about making your stay comfortable and memorable. The food and service are both excellent. We stayed on the top floor and it was very clean and spacious. The mosquito nets are certainly necessary for night time, but what would you expect staying out on Baru. Nearby is an incredible Aviary that you can visit. Take time to chill in the hammocks, swim in the warm water, paddle the kayak, meet your neighbors, and just enjoy the serenity! This place is a gem!
