Excellent breakfast. Very clean rooms. The gym is also great. The pool arrangements are overly monetized and I can see that this would actually annoy the guests moreso than appeal to them.

Just pulling up to the hotel from the outside was clean and tidy. Very inviting reception area and team were so friendly. The room was very clean and open (we were upgraded for my birthday) we had a hot tub. We had a sea view with a balcony. Easy to get to, bus route and bolt was easy to access and a 20 min drive from the airport. The breakfast area gave us a wide variety of foods but not halal friendly but plenty of vegetarian options. Fresh fruits and juices every morning. Room was made everyday and kept clean. The ‘ina spa’ was very relaxing and clean, very inviting. The 2 masseuses that we had were very good! Got my knots out well! I would 100% recommend this hotel and would stay again!

Breakfast is excellent a really good choice and well stocked. The room was spacious and had everything we needed the down side of the room was a silly blue motion sensor light that goes off all the time and really disrupts sleep. The robes need replacing a bit rough and old. It says there is a 24 hour shuttle from airport when I booked but there is not. What was disappointing is the indoor pool and outdoor pool are managed by another provider and they let you know. No robes or slippers in the spa for hotel guests a massive cockroach in the sauna not even a sorry. Quite a long walk through basement to indoor pool so make sure you collect your towel from reception this was a bit of a pain. You also have to book your sun lounger a day ahead. The beachfront hotel guests aren’t allowed in the front rows or around the pool that’s reserved for everyone else so didn’t feel like a five star. Tea and coffee provided in room but no biscuits but a nice chocolate and a turndown service.

All staff including the cleaning team were very helpful and so friendly. Our room was excellent with stunning views across the bay to Valletta. There was a huge breakfast buffet selection.

The hotel is really good and value for money overall. The staff were a highlight, the room was big and clean, with good facilities. If I was being picky the arrangement they have with the beach club for use of the pool is changeable (different rules every day we visited) and the hotel bar is a bit bland.

This was our third visit to the Barcelo Fortina - we visited twice last year and returned this April with friends. However, we had noticed a couple of things that will deter us from booking again. Firstly, I have to say that the staff and rooms are truly excellent - staff are friendly, helpful and faultless. A couple of things riled us at this visit. The friends that we brought along with us needed some extra milk for their tea in their room ( they leave two small sachets only) and when they requested the milk, the bar said that there would be a charge for it! The second and more unpleasant aspect was when we went to try and get sun loungers by the pool.... we were told when we arrived that they had to be booked a day ahead. However, one afternoon, we thought we would risk it and see if there was anything available as we thought some people may have vacated by then. We asked at the pool reception and told that it would cost 120 euros to have a sunbed! We walked away confused. We then went to reception to BOOK a sunbed for the following day,,, duly arrived with our slip of paper and told we were only allowed a sunbed furthest away from the sea and the pool with only the back of peoples heads as a view even though there were plenty of better sited beds available. It seems that as we were hotel residents, and as the pool area is now not owned by the hotel, there are only a few sunbeds reserved for hotel guests. Sadly, we will be looking for a different hotel next year.....

Loved this hotel. It felt like a city break but it was wonderful to relax by the pool after a long day. The staff were very helpful and the facilities were terrific.

Breakfast is amazing and very friendly staff through out the hotel. The gym is a commercial one open to the public which means it was very well equipped and maintained, suitable for every type of gym user. The gym also has an indoor pool which we did not use so cannot comment on it. We had a room on the 6th floor with a view of the harbour and Valletta. The room was cleaned daily and refreshments (tea and coffee) replenished daily. Some of the rooms on the front of the hotel looked like they were in the shade all day and a view of the building in front. The outdoor pool looks like a rooftop pool from the pictures but is at sea level. This was not an issue and was excellent just thought it was going to be a roof top pool. Also, the outdoor pool does not belong to the hotel but is privately owned ‘Manta’ and only a limited number of beds are allocated to hotel guest. These beds are free to use but have to be booked the day before. The ‘Manta’ is an excellent venue we had snacks and poolside drinks there everyday, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Overall the whole facility is well run and managed, the combination of hotel owned and privately owned facilities makes for an excellent 5 star experience. Thoroughly recommend. Will be returning when we can

The location was great and the staff were very friendly. The one major problem for me was in the bathroom. I have physical limitations and the bathtub was so huge it was difficult to get into. The single grab bar was very badly placed and there was nothing else to hold on to. As a result, I had to shower sitting in the stool provided.

Great hotel and staff! We were welcomed by very friendly staff and offered Prosecco and juice upon arrival at reception. The room was clean and very spacious (double room with balcony and hot tub). There was also a complimentary bottle of bubbly in an ice bucket in the room and some sweet treats. We had already made the hotel aware that one of us was coeliac and the head chef met us each morning to take the order for breakfast. This included freshly made omelettes, pancakes with bacon, gluten free bread, muffins and pastries. The regular buffet breakfast was incredibly vast, fresh and very tasty. All tastes were catered for. We made use of the pool, sauna and spa facilities and would highly recommend a head, neck, shoulder and back massage. The staff throughout were very friendly and could not have done more. We wouldn’t hesitate returning to this hotel.
