It was a great option if you want to save some money. Clean, basic accommodations. The breakfast included a lot of options.

First time ever that we have to watch out for the key card. Since apparently if we put it near a phone it wont work for the remainder of the stay.

This suite had good facilities in proper condition and clean. The staff was polite, fast and answered promptly. But, the location of the power outlets was placed poorly in the room.

Perfect night for a quick visit to ottawa! Would book again!

The property is in a very bad area. There was open drug use on the sidewalk and people unconscious everywhere. The building seemed secure but it was inconvenient to get in after 10 pm because of the security measures. Housekeeping visited my floor everyday for the week I stayed but I don't think they entered my room. Fortunately it was just me and the room didn't require daily attention. The room was fine but very austere. The main issue was the area which was very sketchy.

Stayed here for a brief stay - lovely view! We had to leave before breakfast unfortunately. Our room was ready before check in as well, a real plus for jet lag!

This was the worst "hotel" I've stayed in my life. Our bed (mattress) and pillows were so awful that I've been dealing with neck/shoulder pain for a week. It started during my stay, and for two days, I couldn't move my arm due to the shooting pain traveling from the neck to my elbow. Bedroom's access card didnt work, even immediately after checking-in, which was annoying to go back to the front desk to have it fixed more than once. Bathroom is very outdated, towels were awful. I stayed for 5 nights and not once housekeeping came in to clean/refresh towels, despite the website inform they would after 3 days. I'm very dissatisfied, dealing with excruciating pain, and missing work because of it. Do not invest your time or money at this property, specially if you're going to Ottawa for tourism and wishes to spend more than 48 hours in the city.

Having recently stayed there, I can confidently say it delivers on several key fronts, making it a noteworthy choice for short-term visitors in Ottawa. The Good: Exceptional value: Without a doubt, one of the biggest draws of the Rideau Residence is its price point. It's genuinely cheap, offering significant savings compared to many other accommodations. Clean: Despite the budget-friendly rates, the residence maintains a good standard of cleanliness. My room was tidy upon arrival, and common areas appeared well-kept. Walkability: The location is truly fantastic. It's incredibly walkable to downtown Ottawa, allowing easy access to major attractions like Parliament Hill, the ByWard Market, and various museums. For shoppers, the proximity to Rideau Mall and Rideau Station is a huge favour, making it effortless to get around. Areas for Improvement: TV Functionality: While the room included a television, the experience was hampered by a TV remote that didn't work properly. This meant navigating channels was a frustrating ordeal. Limited Channel Availability: Compounding the remote issue, I found that many channel many channels had no signal.

All good as per the basic level accommodations—without complaints due to low fee. Also great complimentary breakfast on the Tamarack run weekend. Be aware, downtown Ottawa is now populated with homeless, dangerous, mostly high people. Too bad it was a beautiful city 10+ years ago.

proximity to the U of Ottawa. However, the room was very hot. To start AC: do not use the thermostat but manually start.

Excellent location—within walking distance to Parliament Hill, ByWard Market, and the surrounding areas. The room was clean, and the staff were courteous and helpful. However, the breakfast had very limited options—only bread, cereal, muffins, and yogurt—and it was so crowded that we couldn't find a place to sit and eat.
