Our suite was very comfortable, sunny, and very clean. We had a breath taking view of the main cathedral out our balcony window. There was pleasant outdoor space adjacent to our suite where we could take meals and relax on comfortable couches and enjoy the sun.

The hotel has a great location. Just a few steps from Parque Calderon and some great restaurants and shops. We really loved the vibe! Although there's one thing you should be prepared for. If you happen to stay at room number 7 and you are planning on going to bed early or sleeping in, you should forget about it. There is a really annoying water pump above the room that goes on early in the morning and goes off late at night. If you sleep like a rock then I'm sure you will be ok. We also found out that the staff from the evening shift was much more helpful.

High altitude took some getting used to with cooler temperatures than expected for location on the Equator.

You are a fantastic place to stay with, and you are absolutely very caring for everything. Since the moment we arrived until the moment we left. You provided us with extended check-out time which was greatly appreciated. Very professional, everyone of the staff speaks perfect English and of course Spanish. The room was very traditional with beautiful decoration, same as the whole corridor and stances, very old charming. We know this is an old colonial building, so no lift. For anyone with troubles, don't worry, they will help you taking all your belongings up to your room, no hesitation. We did only experience low water pressure so the hot water was not triggered, however this was only a temporary minor issue. They provided all help. Breakfast was also nice, and so is all the choice you have in the bar/cafe/restaurant downstairs, with really great prices. The location it's right there, in the very heart of the old town, absolutely fabulous! The views from the balcony were towards the main square too, very beautiful. And as last, my most sincere thank you, to everyone of you, for helping me and my partner after the incident we had, by promptly ringing the paramedics and ambulance in site, the pharmacist from downstairs and all of your assistance. This is a wonderful property I can strongly recommend to anyone which surely will repeat when I return to Cuenca.

Can't believe what a deal this was for so cheap. Our room had a living room and two bathrooms. Beautiful view of downtown. The service was great and the free breakfast was delicious. The only thing that was lacking was enough hot water at times.

Hotel gave away our reservation of 4 nights when we were unable to arrive for the first night due to a cancelled flight. Staff seemed disorganized and hotel needs a good 'scrub'. It is well located.

This hotel was OK. It was very economical and the location, right on Parque Calderon, is excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived at 11 a.m., well before the official check-in time, but our room was ready and we were taken right up. The hotel itself needs updating. The room rates are very reasonable. The beds are comfortable. The restaurant was quite good. I can recommend this hotel to others who are looking for clean, affordable rooms in a convenient location. Our total bill for a triple room, two night stay, was $155 with nice breakfasts included. This not a luxury hotel, but for those on a tight budget, it would be a very good choice.

The location is perfect. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable with a nice patio for mingling with other guests. The staff were friendly. The only negative experience had to do with breakfast. Expedia said breakfast was included, the hotel said it wasn't. However, they honored the agreement after some discussion and once I showed them my confirmation.

I loved everything about this hotel and restaurant/bar. It had so much character and charm. The location is excellent for walking and seeing the city. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Great to have the microwave and refrigerator, although with such a great café/restaurant/bar downstairs I didn't use them. The bathroom was great, lots of hot water and a fun shower. Some people will have difficulty with the lack of elevator as the altitude can take your breath away, literally, for the first few days. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Located 1/2 block from the historic city center, this hotel is less than half a mile to so many sights to see and things to do. The room was very spacious and clean and had ample cabinet/closet space. The bed and pillows are on the firm side. The bathroom was tiny, the toilet literally tucked under the edge of the vanity counter top and a very small shower enclosure difficult to maneuver in. Has a kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker (no coffee), sink, wine glasses and coffee cups available. Nice courtyard in the center of the rooms. Cozy restaurant downstairs. Friendly staff. No instructions in the rooms for guests. Didn’t know how to call the front desk or order room service. Didn’t know room service was available until a waitress was passed taking food up to the rooms while heading down the stairs. The only thing that made my stay here bad enough that it could never be recommended is the smell from the bathroom. Other reviews mention it. Don’t know if it only happens in this room, or even if a lot of other hotels in Cuenca have the same problem. It’s the sewer. The smell of the sewer seeps in through all of the drain openings. By the third night it was overwhelming and nauseating.

As others have offered, this hotel is an old, well-kept building with large rooms/windows in the heart of the downtown center. Clean with nice, simple bathrooms, wooden creaky floors and great wi-fi. The hotel's downstairs cafe serves excellent food and lattes and is a nice place to check emails and people-watch. Prices are very affordable as well. One consideration is that sound carries and hearing your neighbors in certain rooms comes with the territory. But Ecuadorians (bless them) don't seem to be disturbed by other people's 'life's' noises. :) Staff are young and very helpful though there is no room or appreciation for demanding types. Muy tranquillo is the flow of this charming, well-kept time capsule. This is now one of my favorite hotels whenever visiting Cuenca. Blessings on your journeys, dear fellow-travelers.

The sink barely drained, the shower too complex to operate without help, 5 minutes later the water is hot. I ordered a cup of coffee Americana ($1.77) It is not what we drink in the US. I did not get my free breakfast with that coffee but they advertise free breakfast. For lunch I ordered chicken and ribs BBQ from their menu only to be informed they have no chicken and ribs. I Just gave up and went to Subway. Nobody speaks English but that would not fix the stunning levels of incompetence of the staff. For example: I asked how much laundry cost they said $2.50 a kilo. I tried to explain to them I have no way to weigh my bag so the information is useless but nobody speaks English or does math because when I asked again, it was .65 cents a pound. Get used to the South American gringo shakedown. The room #3 I stayed in smells like feces and there was a odd stain on the sheet of the bed. I am an old man and three flights of stairs at this altitude is not something I am good at. There is a traffic control below the window that makes a cuckoo clock sound for blind people 24 hours a day. After two days of listening to that, I am going cuckoo, WIFI did not work in most places for any of my 3 devices. I brought a high gain antenna so I was able to use my laptop. I stayed for two days because I paid for two days in advance. Otherwise I would have left after 1 day.

Our hotel was right on the central plaza in Cuenca, so it was super easy to get around and see what we wanted to see. Our room was a very spacious suite with 1 1/2 baths, so it really was convenient for our party of 4. Breakfast was great, and Pablo was very friendly and talkative. We enjoyed our stay immensely!

The staff were perfectly nice and friendly and eager to please as was everyone we met in Cuenca. The large room had very tiny bathroom with the sink cabinet pushed up against the toilet and the shower so high tech it needs an operation manual. Bed is fine. The hotel is not on the square as advertised but 1/2 block off the square which was a blessing as the square is over lit and power washed every night. The rate was 50% more than the hotel we moved to four blocks away
