Everything about The Fat badger was great! The location couldn't have been better for getting to and from the bus station or railway station. The accommodation was great! The room was so clean and well maintained. The staff everywhere was so helpful. The breakfast was so tasty with a lot of options. I would definitely stay again.

First and foremost, this is not a five-star accommodation. However, if you’re looking for an hotel with old charm with a beer garden and fantastic staff, this will foot the bill. The beer garden had the best mac & cheese and parsnip soup you’ve ever had in your life. Location is extremely convenient to the train station, York Minster, restaurants, pubs and shopping. They’re not a lot of rooms and there is no elevator. Some doors may not close, and floors may be a little warped, but it is worth the price for a quaint accommodation that has everything. If you need accessible lodging, this is not for you.

Wonderful old pub/inn. Great location, helpful staff and an excellent breakfast. Lots of narrow stairs so ask for a room on a lower floors if stairs are an issue!

Fantastic location, however small bedroom and squeaky bed. Also due to the summer weather very warm as no air con. Lovely and friendly people and the secret beer garden is great. Thanks

Very old property with an antique charm. Our bedroom was very well taken care of. Our only complaint would be the bathroom being a little narrow and damp. But these are things that must be traded off for when considering the age of the building. Its proximity to the Yorkminster made it very nice and easy. The food and drink as well as food service was very good. Servers and bartender were knowledgeable about the drinks and gave us good advice when it was needed.

Standard inn room. Hot days, no AC, but the window was only able to be opened 75mm so no way to effectively cool the room, even at night.

AMAZING location in a historic inn, cute views from my 4th-floor room (naturally no elevator, so keep that in mind). The food and drinks were top-notch, and it's only a short walk to York Minster and the art gallery, Yorkshire Museum, Museum Gardens, etc. I will definitely stay here again!

I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy with a hotel. In addition to the perfect, convenient location and good value, the staff was so kind and the room so charming and thoughtful. I wish I had more than one night!

A quirky room, clean, somewhat cramped....distance between mattress and floor wider than distance between corner of bed and drinks table. Bit of a squeeze...a larger person would have to roll over bed to get to window. Facilities good but personally no need for TV...it's York why stay in watching TV?

Really disappointed in accommodation. Paid just short of £400 for 2 nights definitely overpriced. The location is great. The bedrooms in need of refurbishment. No lift on property and rooms are across 3 floors which consisted 2 flights of stairs per floor so on third floor you have to climb six flights of stairs. Bed was clean not to bad on comfort. Very noisy from street below which wasnt rowdy people just folk talking while walking past woke up a few times during the night with the noise. Also bin men at 7am very noisy. I would not recommend the property and would not return. Definitely overpriced for what it is
