The staff were amazing, incredibly helpful and friendly. They made sure that the gluten free member of our group was catered for at breakfast. The room was clean, and the beds comfy afrer walking the Thames path. I wiuld stay here again in a heartbeat and am thinking of retyrning with my family due to the location and price.

My stay was absolutely ok. Wifi access was a bit odd, phone could get the cloud but not my laptop. I was too late to get a parking spot and because the parking was on a hill I could see it was a difficult manoeuvre and so I could see frustratingly large gaps between the cars. So for future visitors it might be worth mentioning the parking is limited although thinking about it you may end up with people arriving at the same time and creating a traffic nightmare on the main road. Heh ho. Anyway everything was ok and the access at night with the door code was nice.

This is the second time in my life that I stayed at a hostel. The premises are generally in good condition, it is clean and the staff is friendly.

the location is great, right on the banks of the Thames - the parking facilities are not so great with a very steep driveway, which would benefit from being resurfaced.

We had a 4 person room (bunk beds), right opposite the loos (which was convenient and was NOT noisy, which we briefly worried about). Plenty of space. Sink in room, which was a nice touch. Showers were hot and powerful, short walk from the room, no queues. Slept like logs as the beds were really comfy, warm duvets & heating (but not too warm), and the room was very quiet. We didn't really use the kitchen or lounge (food is great in the almost adjacent pub). Parking was cosy and on a hill, but the warden warned us and we got a space easily. We would definitely stay there again.

I used the Streatley YHA as a base for visiting several friends in Kidlington, Uxbridge, Reading, Newbury and Northwood - this worked very well as a base for me. The management could not have been more helpful and kind, even phoning me to tell me that I had left behind some personal belongings ! As per the info for this YHA, the driveway definitely is very steep - so make sure that your vehicle has good brakes ! If you arrive in the dark (as I did), I strongly suggest parking in a neighbouring road, so that you can see the driveway in good daylight - especially if you have a hired vehicle. Even a very welcome late-night coffee was supplied with a smile when I arrived ! I would never have considered a youth hostel before... but this is a fine example of just how great the experience can be. No need to waste money on fancy hotels - this YHA does a lovely cooked and continental breakfast - even vegetarian sausages for me ! Finally, Streatley and Goring are absolutely lovely to explore, with larger meals available at the inn by the bridge over the River Thames, where boats are available for hire - or you can take a pleasure cruise and let someone else captain the boat ! The YHA is a registered charity, so they need your money... please support them, so that they can keep providing affordable, comfortable accommodation and great experiences !! I know where I will be staying next time I am here :-)
