Jim and Inge were super responsive and welcoming. I was just there for one night and was very comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.

Overall building is rundown. First impression of this place was the musty air. Rooms and bathrooms are outdated. Bathrooms were very cramped and moldy. Main bathroom smelled like urine. Basement bedroom and bathroom ceiling is no more than 6' ft high. Amenities stated central air, not true, just open the windows. Free parking means street parking. Owners told us they wouldn't enter into our space once keys were exchanged. In the night we all heard 2 sets of footsteps enter into the livingroom to turn off the lights. I left them on for an elderly family member. We all noticed spiders and cobwebs in the bedrooms. Beds were shifty and creaked a lot. Bed linens didn't feel fresh and clean. No one slept well due to the musty smell. The air was too stuffy. Only consolation was the scones the Mrs. made us in the morning.

We spent a week cycling in the surroundings of Ottawa. This B+B is the ideal location for cycling since it is located right between the Rideau Canal and the Rideau River. Phone Ottawa tourist info, they'll send you an excellent bike maps or pick one up, also available at Gatineau/Hull tourist info. Furthermore it is close to the Bank street which offers many restaurants of different kinds, and also a Whole Foods Market emphasizing healthy food very close. The room is relatively small but very well equipped (computer, TV and large TV in the sitting room), dishes, free N-American phone calls). Also a couple of minutes' walk to Carleton University.

Owners made both us and the other couple we met there feel as if we were an inconvenience to them. The host was pushy and overly intrusive. Bouilding run down, unable to stand up in shower if you are over 6 foot tall. No air conditionong despite advertized as having. Free parking is just on the street. We always stay in bed and breakfast's and this is the worst over the years.

I was very upset that the quoted price on the website was not what they actually charged me when I arrived. Too late to cancel so I was stuck with it. The email confirmation didn't confirm the cost, just the reservation. Not happy at all !!!

Basic, clean and close, but not for people with mold allergies. The room is in the basement (subterranean). It's not a quaint B & B but more like a boarding room. The hosts are nice, good for students.

I understand the minimalist approach but this more a "spartan "approach . Only chair to sit on in the room was an inexpensive office chair with arms ,nothing comfortable to sit on beside the bed. The desk light did not work, the closets were without doors, there was no television or common room with any real ammenities and the single bed was of questionnable comfort. For an extra $10 to $20.00; I will stay in a regular hotel the next time. I was definitely "underwhelmed".

Very clean place to stay, as I have had bad experiences in other B&B's and Hotels. Cosy, hospitable, courteous and kind. Excellent baking!

I stayed at the Sunnyside Bed and Breakfast for the Ottawa Marathon weekend. The location was great and the neighbourhood quite cute which I loved. However it was not what I expected to stay in based on the price I paid. The owners were quite splendid but everything else was pretty budget. We were put in a basement room, the lights flickered when we turned it on, toilet barely flushed, couldn't stand up fully in the washroom, one tiny window and the television(although we never used it) was in the closet. I thought the breakfast might make up for it but it was very small and basic which I'm not used to from past stays at B and B's. It could be a great spot of the whole place was updated and served a better breakfast.

Small room, would have been NO privacy if other guests had been staying there at the same time! The common living room is right outside the bedroom door! Furnishing need updating and the room was not very clean. Bathroom was fine. Breakfast was nice and the hosts were very hospitable.

This place is getting to be my place away from home. Service and cleanliness is outstanding. What I really like about this place is it is so quiet and peaceful. The location, close to but just south of the down town bustle and noise is rare. Breakfast was healthy and yummy especially on scones day! See ya soon!

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was really fun. The place is so clean and pretty. Inge and Jim are very friendly. We loved the Pacific room and our bed was perfect. I really miss the place and would definately like to go back and tell my friends about it too.

My dad retired overseas and made a surprise visit to my house while it was under renovations. I put him up at the Sunnyside B & B which was private, spacious and inviting. He was very happy with the delicious fruit salad and yogurt which Inge provided for his breakfast. Inge was so welcoming and cheerful which meant a lot to my dad. Thank-you for making his stay so enjoyable.

Last weekend we stayed at the Sunnyside B&B to attend the Winterlude Festival in Ottawa. The location was chosen after viewing pictures online at this site, it looked charming. In reality however it is not at all what is pictured online, NOT ONE of the pictures show the actual accommadations. The Front Door picture shows the owners half of the house. The B&B is a single story attached to the left of the photo, there is one bedroom and bath on the first floor and the other bedroom is in the basement. The Atlantic Room had an old saggy mattress and box spring sitting on a frame only, no closet, no dresser, tv trays for night stands, a wooden chair to place a laptop on with internet wires on the floor beneath it (business center I guess). The Pacific Room also not as pictured on this site. The Lounge pictured has leather furniture and flat screen TV...in reality we had an old couch and chairs, that we had to rearrange any time 4 of us wanted to sit together and talk and then move it out of the way to get to the very small shared bathroom. Yes, the owner was nice, and we did not want to confront her with our disappointment as we were there to enjoy the festival, however I will make contact with her as I feel we were deceived and would hate to have it happen to anyone else. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS B&B

I stayed at Sunnyside B&B in Ottawa on December 21st and 22nd, 2009. I can recommend this place without hesitation. I'm much obliged to Jim & Inge for my pleasant stay at Sunnyside. The food was great, the coffee was superb! Sunnyside is cosy, spotlessly clean, and hospitable because Jim & Inge keep it that way. If you have anything to do with Carleton University, you absolutely could not be in a better location. You can walk from Sunnyside to Carleton in 5 minutes.

I had an early interview for a Government job and was very lucky to find this spot. Price was certainly in line with the shared bathroom but everything else was superior to higher rated hotels.
