Excellent stay! Totally recommend

We had a nice stay at Posada Don Matias in Oaxaca. Good location just 5 min walk from the Zocalo, comfortable rooms with hot showers, a TV and a fan (we had the economy room). Staff was lovely at all times and helped us booked a taxi to the airport on the last day for $300mxn (we paid $510mxn from the airport on the airport taxis due to no Uber/Didi). The window faced the hallway so it didn’t give much privacy to open it, but didn’t bother us as we were mostly out during the day. It would have also been nice to have a bedside lamp. I would book again and recommend to anyone looking for an affordable stay.

The location is perfect, but unfortunately the stay was disappointing. There was no hot water at all. I informed the reception, but they insisted there was no issue. The plumbing needs a lot of work—the toilet took forever to flush. The Wi-Fi kept disconnecting. There were also many ants and mosquitoes in the room. I asked the reception for mosquito spray.. but the receptionist initially refused and only gave it to me after I insisted, even though the room was full of mosquitoes. I got bitten several times and had to spend 700 pesos on medication from a pharmacy. The hotel has a great location, but it seriously needs better maintenance and customer service.

Room was cute, comfortable, and affordable. Those who complain/expect more or expect the staff to speak their language are ridiculous. I would stay here again and will recommend for those traveling on a budget. Location is perfect!

Great location. Clean room with a chair and a stool plus a small fold down desk and a vanity table. The room had enough space to move around. Nice property and staff. Hot water has specified times. Shower pressure not great but workable.

It feels like home

Mattress was really uncomfortable. There is a club next to it and music won't stop until 2 or 3 am. They must have a pool table there because I could hear them dropping the ball all throughout the night. Street vendors stay out until late and traffic noise starts early morning ( busy street). Location is great because your able to walk to all the popular places. Staff was really helpful and nice.

Not fancy. Beds were uncomfortable. However, the location and staff help were great! Would definitely stay here again.

Recently stayed here and I was really happy with how clean it was. Staff was super attentive and were constantly cleaning all areas of the hotel. Looks just like the pictures! Super close to all the markets, laundry mat, pharmacy, and the Zocalo. Only down side was there was no AC, but there was a fan available. Would stay here again 😊

My second stay at Posada Don Matías and overall it was a great experience again. There was an issue with the A/C in our room, but the staff handled it quickly and moved us to another room right away. Everyone was very attentive and helpful. The price is very good, and the hotel is close to everything. I would definitely stay here again.”

Great room. Air condition worked well. Big mirror. Great location. Their hot water schedule is a little inconvenient but they always turned it on for me when I asked outside of the hours they turn it on.

Great place to stay. Well run, cheerful, economical, centrally located, safe. This is my second stay and I’ll be back.
