It's a great place to stay and Anwar is amazing. I hope I got his name right. Anyway so the place is deep in the Medina and getting there is an adventure. If you have a mobility issue or disability, this is not the place for you. The location does not have easy access to amenities such as coffee shops, groceries etc you have to walk. You do get the sense of what it's like to live the Medina. At night there is a lot of people telling you that the Medina is closed and you can't go there, you have to ignore them. With narrow pathways, steep stairs it makes it hard to just blow off these people. But perhaps great folks like our host; they can have some influence on this. The nice part is that you do get a real deal experience of staying in the Medina.

We enjoyed our stay at dar lala Chafya. It was an authentic experience to live in a real Moroccan house of the old medina (Fes al bali). The house was spacious and a good size for a family of four (2 bedrooms). There was a terrace, dining room, sitting section with a tv with youtube for the kids and bathroom of good standard and size. We visited in December with cold nights, so we were glad to have heaters on in all sleeping rooms, dining area and the bathroom, and thick Moroccan blankets. The hostAnouar arranged it so the heaters were all ready on when we arrived, and whenever we needed something we could ask him. We had a whats ap group where we could communicate with him whenever we needed, and he was quick to answer. We paid for breakfast, and so Anouar and his father would come every morning at a time we decided the evening before, and make true Moroccon breakfasts and tea, with bread, eggs, fruits etc. And there was chocolate milk and nutella for the kids. The breakfasts where what we enjoyed most at the hous. Anouar (and his dad) was really hospitable and kind and speaks good English. He recommended places to go, arranged drivers, helped us to get to the cars outside the narrow streets of the Medina. This was the one negative thing- that it is hard to find the house without help and google maps didn't work right for this house. Anouar and his father helped us to the cars or main streets of Medina every time, which helped a lot. Great stay and recommend it:)
