As an extension of Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany, the museum has been holding design works from the winner of Red Dot Awards for Product Design, Communication Design and Design Concept.

However, one visit to the museum is not only education, but also an entertainment. Not only exhibition area, you can also spend quality time at the museum’s design shop and chill at the outdoor café bar.

There are several different exhibitions you can visit at this museum. The Permanent Collection shows the works who won the Red Dot Design Award. This is a world-wide competition where design experts from different countries judge the best design concept and product. At Red Dot Design Museum, this exhibition takes place throughout different parts of the building, from showcase area to the café.

In addition to that, there are other exhibitions worth your visit. Some notable ones we would like to recommend are Mask Collection and Human Nature. At Mask Collection, you can take a look at the richness diversity of respiratory masks. This exhibition is free and an extension from the shop. Get to know the story behind the design labels, craft, and collection.

Meanwhile, Human Nature displays human’s perception on robots. Some our biggest questions regarding robot development are responded: what would happen when robots turn autonomous? Can human be replaced by machine? Behind the sophisticated form of designs, there lie a big theme you can grasp.

After sightseeing at the exhibition area, drop by outdoor café and bar to relax for a while. From here, you can enjoy beautiful view of Marina Bay and cool afternoon breeze.

The interior is furnished with award-winning decoration pieces while the menu serves local cuisines. This cozy spot is a great hang-out space after exploring the museum. Try the traditional rice dumplings and Nonya kuehs. Have a casual chat and enjoy the friendly vibe!

The exhibition opens from Tuesday to Friday 12 PM to 6 PM and Saturday-Sunday from 9 AM to 6 PM. To enter the museum, you don’t need to purchase Red Dot Design Museum ticket. You just need to pay as you wish. For non-Singapore residents, a minimum rate is applied for S$10 for visitors above 7 years old. Children of age 6 and below is free from admission.
