transit
I stayed at Mercure Hotel Haneda and overall had a pleasant experience, even though it was only for a short transit stay before my flight. The room was very clean, well-equipped with an air purifier and complete amenities, including sleepwear provided in the room. I was lucky to get an upgrade to a king bed, which made the stay even more comfortable. The hotel also offers a shuttle bus service, which is a convenient option. However, the shuttle only runs during limited hours—pick-up service from Haneda Airport is available in the evening, and drop-off to the airport is only available in the morning. Outside those hours, you’ll need to take a train or taxi. That said, it’s still a solid choice for travelers—very clean, good facilities, and overall a reliable hotel near Haneda.

Very good location near the Akebonobashi station, walking distance. The hotel is in an alley, 5 minutes away from the station as a residence. Therefore, the night is not lonely. There are restaurants, cafes, seven and pharmacies that are quite large (and tax free for tourists). The area is very convenient. New hotels and rooms are considered wide. Because we booked a 4 bed room There is still space to place all 4 large luggage. Conclusion Like clean, new, peaceful. Good location. If going to Tokyo, probably would stay again.

Good stay. No complains. Except maybe for coffee. They only provide tea. Friendly and helpful English speaking staff at reception. Convenient location. Right next to train station, Family Mart, and 7-Eleven. Great restaurants just a short walk away. Special mention for Ichikatsu Restaurant, family favorite katsu. The room was cleaned every day. AC and Wi-Fi were great. Beds were comfy. Rooms were a good size. The 2-bedded twin room for the kids was more spacious than our queen bedded one. Awesome view of the Tokyo Skytree and sprawling cityscape from the rooms. The ice dispenser at the common area was handy. Yay. Free shuttle to Disney. Book early. The free shuttle back to the hotel was at 9:45 p.m. Too late for us. We took the trains back. Tried 1 hotel breakfast. Decent, but there were better options outside. Directly opposite the hotel was a small cafe run by an elderly couple that served good coffee and breakfast toast/sandwiches. Sumida walking map at hotel lobby. Had a good early morning walk along the Sumida River to Ushijima Shrine, Tokyo Skytree Tower, and back for breakfast.

Hotel Musse Ginza offers a clean and cozy experience in the heart of Tokyo. The rooms, though small (typical for Tokyo hotels), are well-maintained. A notable perk is the 7-11 on the ground floor, providing added convenience. The hotel's central location near shopping, restaurants, and Ginza Six makes it an ideal choice for exploring the city. Overall, a pleasant stay with practical amenities and good customer service.

More about hotels in Tokyo

Visiting Japan, especially the bustling capital of Tokyo, is a dream for many travellers around the world. The city is packed with modern wonders, quirky innovations, and all things automated yet in many corners, you'll still find ancient traditions lovingly preserved by the locals. Before planning your adventure, let’s get to know the city a little better and explore some cosy Tokyo hotel options to make sure you get the restful stay you deserve.

About Tokyo

For Japan first-timers, one thing’s for sure: Tokyo is an unmissable stop. From exciting places to visit and must-stop shops to irresistible foodie spots, the city is bursting with things to see and do. There’s just so much to explore in Tokyo, yet never quite enough time.

This city is a fascinating blend of the ultra-modern and the deeply traditional. You’ll find neon-lit skyscrapers standing tall beside tranquil shrines, and stumble upon a robot café just a short walk from a peaceful tea house. Getting around is a breeze too! The pedestrian paths are safe and spacious, while Tokyo’s train and subway systems are famously efficient and always on time.

Each district has its own distinct personality. Whether you’re diving into the buzzing energy of Shibuya, soaking up the old-world charm of Asakusa and Ueno, or shopping for luxe goods in Ginza, Tokyo really does have something for everyone. If you're into fashion, fun, and colourful vibes, Harajuku is a must. Love anime, manga, and gadgets? Akihabara is your playground. And foodies, don’t miss Tsukiji Outer Market, cause it's a street food haven.

When it comes to choosing where to stay, Shinjuku is a top pick among travellers. It’s well-connected, lively both day and night, and offers plenty of accommodation options in Tokyo that suit every budget.

How safe is Tokyo for tourists?

You might have heard people say, “You can’t lose your stuff in Japan” and honestly, there’s some truth to that. If you happen to misplace something, simply head to the nearest police station, and chances are it’s already been handed in. That’s just one of the many reasons why Tokyo is renowned for its safety, with low crime rates and a strong sense of community.

Tourists can comfortably explore the city, even at night, without worry. According to a Forbes Advisor study, Tokyo ranks as the second safest city in the world. It stands out for its highest travel safety rating from the United States Department of State.

That said, it's still important to take standard precautions. Always keep an eye on your belongings in your Tokyo hotel and stay aware of your surroundings, just as you would anywhere else!

What is the weather like in Tokyo?

Tokyo experiences four distinct seasons:

  • Spring (March to May): Pleasant and mild, with average temperatures around 10–20°C. This is cherry blossom season, making it one of the most beautiful times to visit.
  • Summer (June to August): Hot and humid, especially in July and August. Temperatures can soar above 30°C. Expect occasional rain and a rainy season in June.
  • Autumn (September to November): Cooler and drier, with temperatures between 15–25°C. The city turns vibrant with autumn foliage — a favourite time for locals and tourists alike.
  • Winter (December to February): Cold but generally dry and sunny. Snow is rare, and temperatures typically range from 1–10°C.

How to get from Tokyo Airport to the city center?

Shinjuku Washington Hotel Main
The hotel location is very good, in the middle of the bustling Shinjuku area, short 7-10 mins walk to the station, make it easy to navigate around Tokyo. Lots and lots of shopping and eateries, airport limousine bus also stop in front of the hotel. Room is very small, but this is normal in Tokyo. Good choice if you love to stay in Shinjuku
