This hotel is conveniently located across from the station. The reception is on level 8. The luggage was was good. Our room was comfy for our family of four. My major issue with the hotel is the elevator. As the hotel is under the Kyoto tower it shares an elevator with the tower. When we tried to get to our room on level 5, the lifts were full of people leaving the tower. The reception staff failed to mention another bank of elevators in the other side of the floor. We had to carry our luggage down the stairs to level 5. There are other hotels around the train station so I recommended checking those out.

We arrived with a child tired from a long trip at 1:30 pm. We were told our two rooms were ready. However check in time is 3 pm we were told. If we wanted prior access we would have to pay extra per hour according to the front desk. I asked whether we would get refunds if we checked out a few hours early at the end. The answer of course was no. In six decades of travel I have never experienced such offensive greed in the form of a shakedown at check in. Asked if we had any allergies and mentioning aversion to shellfish, we were asked to fill out an elaborate indemnity form at check in repeating personal information already available in the reservation system. Nothing positive can be said after such an abusive welcome. To be avoided if possible.

I can only give this property four stars due to the bathroom. The room itself was very spacious in relation to other Japanese hotels. It was clean and comfortable and in a great location directly across from Kyoto Station. The only challenge was the bathroom. It was like the bathroom in a mobile home. The toilet didn't fit but they wedged it in anyhow so the you couldn't keep the toilet seat up. It was so weird. Every time we used the bathroom we had to hold the toilet seat up. I felt like I was being attacked by the toilet every time I had to use it. There also was zero counter space which made it tricky. The room my kids had wasn't this way. Their bathroom was configured a bit differently so I guess luck of the draw. Overall, nice stay with very helpful front desk staff.

Good location within walking distance to Porta mall and Train station. The room is old, but clean, bathroom is smelly. If you get there by train, walk up to main gate with escalators if you have luggages. Don’t follow Google map.

The bathroom needs to be fixed. The toilette seat wasn't fit correctly and the shower leaked water. If you drink coffee and/or tea, you have (must) go to the 8th floor to pick them up, very inconvenient.

Room was tight as there was a second table and chairs in walkway at the end of the bed. We moved some things around to make room. Overall it was comfortable and near the station, so convenient.
