The Fragrance Hotel is a great choice for those who prefer to stay at a quaint hotel in a nostalgic neighbourhood. It is strategically located near to an MRT station and Orchard Road. Fragrance Hotel is also close by to several of the best and famous local eateries.
How to Get to the Fragrance Hotel - Balestier
Fragrance Hotel - Balestier is along the Balestier Road. The best way to get to the hotel is by driving there. The drive to the Fragrance Hotel will take about twenty minutes or so from Pulau Ujong. The hotel is about five minutes away from Novena Square, and it is nearby to the Tan Tock Seng Hospital. There is also an option to take a taxi to get to the hotel. Taxis are aplenty in Singapore, and they are very reliable. The taxis also have a reasonable fare. Do note that there will be surcharge during peak hours, after 5 PM and midnight. The surcharge is also applicable depending on the place where the taxis are flagged down. For those who are in a tight budget, there is an option to take either the MRT or the transit buses. Both of these have wide network coverage, and near Fragrance Hotel - Balestier, there are several bus stops and an MRT station, the Balestier station. The Balestier MRT Station is about five minutes away from the hotel.

The Fragrance Hotel - Balestier has three types of room in its building. All of the rooms are decorated in a simple but still eye-catching beautiful. The first one is the Superior Double. It is a 15-sqm room, with a choice of either a double bed or two single beds. The Superior Double is perfect for one to two person. The room starts from S$ 93 a night. The next one is the Superior Loft. The Superior Loft is at 13-sqm, with the bed located on the second floor of the room. The bed in the Superior Loft is a double bed, and it starts from S$ 130 a night. For a family, opt for the Superior Family room. The room is just 12-sqm, but it can fit three people with the setting of the room. A double bed is on the floor with a single bed located above it. The Superior Loft room starts from S$ 139 a night.
All of the rooms at the Fragrance Hotel - Balestier is equipped with the basic in-room amenities. There are coffee/tea maker set, a television set and a couple of complimentary bottled water. Ironing facility is available upon request. All of the rooms are also fully air-conditioned.

One of the oldest markets in Balestier, the Whampoa Market was first opened in 1980. It is a two-building market, one dedicated for the wet market and some stalls that are opened at morning until lunch hour while the other one is for night market and filled with great hawker stalls, serving delicious food. The Whampoa Market is a great place to try famous Singaporean dishes, from Hokkien Mee to rojak and Nasi Padang among others. These dishes are popular among locals and tourists; not only they are delicious, but they are also cheap. Balestier is known for its great and cheap eateries; Whampoa Market is one of the places. Whampoa Market opens from 6 AM until 10 PM.
