Bad attitude of reception, bad smell of the room, lack of breakfast
8.8
Our stay at Mori Hostel is great. Have free breakfast which is a great help if you’re travelling on a budget. Location is 8 mins walk from Farrer Park. Also quite a walk in Mustafa Center which is a 24hr Department Store. Our room is ok since we’re near the bathroom on the second floor. Would definitely stay next time we go back to Singapore.

Not a happy arrival
I arrived hot and sweaty after the train journey from the airport at 12.00 midday. I realised this was too early but wanted to leave my bags and go to the toilet before heading into the city. I do this everywhere I stay. But there is no one on reception, just a sign saying "leave your bags and go for an early lunch". However, bags all over the small lobby and no security so I couldn't leave my bags. And none of the restaurants, cafes etc in walking distance are open at lunch time. So I'm still stuck here in the lobby at 1.44 pm and no staff have shown up at any point. I could have taken any of the bags in the lobby. Outside table covered in cigarette ash. Wifi is good so I'm writing this while I wait.

Convenient location, comfy bed, great value
I stayed at Mori Hostel for 4 nights in a private room with my partner. We were first met by friendly staff when we checked in and they gave us a quick tour of the facilities on the way to our room. They were also very helpful in giving directions to places around the city. This was made easier by the hostel's great location. It is only a short walk from the Farrer Park MRT station (approx. 5 mins). The common areas of the hostel itself were quite hot and stuffy, with only a couple of fans, but the room was lovely and cool with a quiet air-conditioning unit. Our room had an extremely comfortable bed, large mirror and a little table with a safe. There was a 'no food in rooms' policy which is a minor inconvenience if you like a early morning or late night snack and don't want to leave the room, but the kitchen facilities are never far away. The breakfast that was included was nice and simple. Cereal and toast with tea and coffee. Nothing fancy, but a good little start to the day. The hostel might've been a bit rough around the edges, not spotlessly clean, but certainly not dirty, with bathroom doors a bit awkward to close sometimes. It is a friendly and great value place to stay in Singapore.

As Expected with a Little Bit Extra
For a basic hostel, this accommodation absolutely met my expectations. Although the aesthetic (tiles, concrete, white walls etc.) looks a little lacklustre, the place seems mostly clean and tidy. The kitchen area is as basic as can be, but still provides adequate space for the daily breakfast of tea, coffee, cereal and toast. I stayed in a double private room and was pleasantly surprised by its incredibly comfortable bed, icy air conditioning unit, and relative isolation from the bustle outside. Somewhat uncommonly for a hostel, the shower blocks provided shampoo and body wash for guests, and with a number of bathrooms scattered throughout the complex, I never had to wait long to use the communal facilities. As an added benefit, the hostel is conveniently located about 5 minutes from Farrer Park station and, as the staff were incredibly helpful in giving us directions and information about various restuarants and tourist attractions, we never struggled to navigate the city. All in all, Mori Hostel served as a great base throughout our time in Singapore and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for simple, budget accommodation in this beautiful country.

Good rest, but average place
I stayed here for 2 nights, quite an experience for me.. the hostel didn't have an elevator so you should carry your bag by the stair.. no key to lock the locker, so you should be careful and do not put your precious things there if you want to go out.. still i had a good sleep and shower there, but i don't think it's worth the price ...

Cheap and nice atmosphere
Found the bed and pillow very comfortable. Excellent location. Very friendly and helpful staff - one even bought me a soft drink whilst I waited for the airport shuttle. Air con and remote are in rooms so you can control the temperature. Breakfast is basic but a good way to start the day but no aircon in kitchen area. Great atmosphere
