Interesting area to stay
The pros for this hotel are location near the Chinatown hub, pricing which includes a complimentary breakfast and friendly staff. The close by area is full of restaurants and clubs and easily reached MRT stations. But don't be sucked in by the website photos of the rooms. These are in my opinion not 3 star standard. A short stay might be OK if you are not too fussed about attention to detail such as fridges that work or airconditioners that fail and then not fixed during your stay. It is also a little disconcerting not to be able to sit on the dunny (toilet) without banging your head on the door. We booked and paid for a week but moved to the Carlton for the last two days. Overall the hotel was disappointing but a different room might have lessened that. We booked and paid in advance for a deluxe double room which did not meet our expectations. Make sure room 308 isn't allocated to you on arrival. Due to airport problems caused by a hailstorm we were not able to book in until 2.am and probably got the worst room as the hotel does seem to have a high occupancy rate.

Small room but great location
Stayed in room 309 where you take the elevator up to the 3rd floor then walk up a flight a stairs to get to the room. Going in I knew the room would be small but was only there for only two nights and the price was reasonable. The room was clean and a/c worked well. Breakfast was just okay. Best part of the hotel is the location. Few minutes from the Maxwell hawker center for the chicken rice. Close to a few metro stations and Chinatown. I did take the $9.00 shuttle from the airport and it drops you off in front of the hotel. The main reason for being only three stars. After exploring the city and getting back to the hotel around 22:00, The room was never cleaned. Since it was so late and this was going to be my last night there, I didn't say anything.

Good location
The location is good and you can take MRT from Chinatown/ Outram Park to anywhere you like. You can find a lot of restaurants around or try local food in Chinatown complex in 2mins walk. Staff are helpful and nice.

Good location - noisy room
The hotel was well located in Chinatown. The check-in was very quick and the staff very helpful. We were on the ground floor and our room had a view of the street. It was very noisy, even at night, as the street is very busy and a bar is located near the hotel. The room and the bathroom were clean. Wifi worked well. The breakfast was very light, but complementary with the room. We found the price quite expensive in comparison with our other stay in Singapore but it was overpriced probably because of the Formula 1 Grand Prix during this period.

Another comfortable stay
I had another good stay at Keong Saik Hotel. This time a single bedded room in the attic area at the top of the hotel. You take the lift up, then have to walk up some timber stairs at access these rooms. My room was small, clean and tidy. Again I found it a little dim and would have liked a bit more light. It had everything I needed for a short stay of a few nights. The bathroom was similar to the one I had last time when I booked a double room on the ground floor. I again found Staff at the front desk and around the hotel were polite and pleasant. I like the little breakfast area off Reception. The breakfast spread isn't huge, but it's adequate. I also stopped there during the day sometimes for coffee and little packaged cakes. There is also a cold water cooler to fill your water bottle. My room was tidied promptly while I was out sightseeing. My room had Tea and Coffee supplies, fridge, kettle, hair dryer and an in-room safe. The location is very good and it's only 5 minutes walk to Outram Park MRT station or up into the Chinatown area. I like this small hotel a lot and will stay again.
