Mai Mondok Guest House
Desa Pemuteran, Gerokgak, 81155-Bali
I KNOW this is the HIGH season in Bali BUT Pemuteran is extremely pricey. This guest house is, in my opinion, over-priced.
This guest house is right off the road in Pemuteran. It also has a restaurant. I booked this room, one room out of four, via the internet sight unseen. You can hear the traffic roaring by. My room has; 2 hard twin beds pushed together which are really box-springs (Normally the bottom of 2 mattresses) masquerading as a real bed. They are severely FIRM! It also has; 2 small end tables, a closet, 2 nice comfortable chairs with a bantam round table in between, air-con & sorry, NOT enough light to read a book. A person gets two 600 ml of warm water each day. They also have a good mosquito net structure. The bathroom has; tissue, liquid shampoo & soap & an outdoor shower with rocks to stand on while you shower. I HATE struggling to stand on rocks while I take a shower. FYI; they should have some platform for people who HATE standing on rocks. Our porch has a couple of chairs/a table between. Did I mention there are only four rooms? It has a little garden area with places to lie out. The room comes with breakfast.......NOT enough for hungry people; juice, a plate of fruit, 1 cup of coffee & an egg OR something like that.
I asked when I checked in, to the check-in girl, IF they could arrange a motorbike hire. She said yes; she would have to call someone. It costs RP 60,000 she said. Later, when I made decision which day, 2 days in advance, they said NO WAY. Bummer man.
They take CASH only. There is a mosque nearby this guest house. It's NOT as loud as the dueling mosques in Candikuning. You WILL wake up “around” 5-5:30 AM though.
Mai Mondok note; on my last day, while I was out, when they cleaned my room the sprayed mosquito spray ALL OVER MY ROOM. When I came back & opened the door I coughed & I breathed the INSECTICIDE right into my lungs. They sprayed it soooo heavily! Why? There is a mosquito net right in the room covering the bed. IF a mosquito got in the room it would be forced to crawl under the netting to attack me. I told them about the insecticide and they denied they sprayed it. I forced them to come to my room & smell it. Then they said okay we drenched the room with mosquito spray. Why? I was forced to open both the front & rear door to TRY to let the stench out. It did NOT work. I could still taste it all night long. That is no good! With a mosquito net why spray anything at all? What is the purpose of a mosquito net, eh?
Oh by the way has anyone heard about climate change? Apparently, NOT in Bali; the sickening taste of smoke is always in the air. STOP BURNING TRASH!
