Not what it looks like in the photos
This was our last place of stay on our holiday and were so looking forward to 3 relaxing days and nights at what looked a lovely resort in a quiet location. We booked direct with Accor in the properties second to top room being a Deluxe Duplex Suite with Jacuzzi. At check in the manager greeted us and asked us to let him know if there were any issues, and we couldn’t believe that we would have to take him up so soon on this. Check in was polite with a welcome non-alcoholic drink and cold towel, but no recognition of Platinum status or offer of any benefits. We were taken to our room by buggy as the paths are steep but manageable in case that may put some people off.
We were shown our room where a fruit plate had been prvovided and saw a welcome letter which mentioned some platinum benefits (lounge access given complimentary for some evening drinks, free welcome drink) – thank you. We then checked the room only to be severely disappointed in that what the professional management pictures had shown were not reality. I took the attached pictures, which speak for themselves, to show reception and asked if they would be happy staying in that room. They then offered to move us to an exact same room as an upgraded room was not available until a day later. The other room was not too dissimilar therefore we did not transfer and did not wish to mess another room as we were going to move the following day.
We later received a call from reception offering us a complimentary meal in their award winning Sizzle restaurant, of which we were not after compensation, just a decent room and what we had paid for. We later decided to accept their offer of which the meal and service was really good; we had to pay for our alcohol as informed and you’d expect, and they also brought a little bottle of mosquito spray for us as its on the rooftop. They truly made an effort to apologise and we were very grateful.
The following day we moved to a one bedroom pool villa, which was more well maintained, and spacious. To point out though, there are construction works right in front of you and therefore depending on your shyness, you may not fully relax and there is no view apart from concrete and builders. The sliding doors and shower doors also don’t have full seals and the bed does not have a net over it, so use the mosquito spray and adapters. The bed is comfy and there are 2 vanity basins plus good size clothes storage, dressing gowns and small self-catering style kitchen outside.
We never had to queue at breakfast for a seat etc, and they had some nice touches like a healthy station with different daily choices, crepe station with mushroom sauce (very tasty), and regular selections. We ate also in the Vista restaurant with another couple and cannot fault their service or food. The evening drinks service was also fantastic with attentive and pleasant staff and you can also purchase some tasty pre-dinner snacks, otherwise nibbles are provided. Also spoke to the head chef one morning and was very pleasant and informative of local culture.
A complimentary shuttle is also provided that runs frequently and drops you off in the main town centre. Alternatively, you can pay 300THB each way for Tuk Tuk or Taxi which we would at night. The location is quiet and out of the bustle of Patong and quite a walk in to town if you wished to walk, with nothing much in the vicinity. There is also a well equipped gym, and 3 pools – one being an Adults only but it’s a relatively small area.
The hotel can also provide transport to the airport for 1500THB (taxis charge about 750 – 1000THB) which was advertised as a luxury car, however it turned out to be the hotel van and I mean van. Not luxury in anyway but it got us there.
