Good location, great services
The most important part is the location of the Kata Garden Resort being in an area with many restaurants, shops, stands, pharmacies and beaches. The ambiance of the resort is great making you feel you are in a small charming garden/jungle. The rooms are not very fancy but the service this resort provides is definitely pro-customer: customers can borrow beach towels, parasols and beach chairs for no extra charge. The manager is most kind and does speak good english - a thing i came to appreciate in Thailand since most of the people do not speak english almost at all and it is very difficult to get to an understanding. The cleaning ladies are on the watch every day changing bedsheets, cleaning the rooms, folding my shirts and dresses and restocking the coffee stand/minibar, changing towels and even refreshing the air of the room with some tropical scent. Definitely worth the money they charge for the stay. To my big surprise the resort has free wifi, which actually works at all times !!! This may sound weird to some of you, but since i entered Thailand i have not find a wifi with a service equivalent to european wifi, until arriving to Kata Garden resort. So in case internet connection is really important to you, this is the place to stay! Moving to this hotel from the previous one in an absolutely bad location was a great idea and it did save this holiday from blowing up. Also, back to location and cost of hotel, please be advised that it is not convenient to book a hotel in a more isolated area because of the huge costs with taxi - from 500 baht/one drive and more depending where you stay and what beach you want to go to. A convenient alternative to taxi is the borrowing of the scooter, but to be honest im not a huge fan of this alternative. However it is very used by most of the tourists. Also, a word to the wise: do not plan to travel by public transportation on Phuket island (cannot say if it is applicable for all other islands) because it is most terrible! If i can advise, i would say to book your transport from airport to hotel with the hotel directly (in case they provide airport shuttle) even if it is at some cost. It will be cheaper, than certainly less tiring than to get to the hotel. The taxi from the airport to Rawai area (south) charges aaround 1000 baht, which is too much, if you ask me. Make sure to let the hotel staff know you want to be picked up as soon as possible, as it may happen that you inform them a couple of days before your stay and your request could be declined. If you decide to go shopping, make sure you negotiate. It seems negociation of the price is like a sport here :) we managed to negociate from 1800 baht for a bag to 400, and i am really bad at it :D Thats all for now:) Good luck!

Horrible
Stayed at this place for 8 nights. The air conditioner broke down 4 of those nights. Giant insects like big spiders and lizards are in most of the bedrooms. Cleening is suposed to get done every day but is forgotten sometimes. My three friends i was here with all changed rooms because of terrible smell and other problems. This hotel is not good. :((

Relaxing Summer Break
We have stayed in Kata Garden for 11 days which was an amazing memory. Our room (no:1012) was huge almost 42m2, newly renovated. Lovely staff that make you feel very welcome. Room was very clean, had a king size double bed, big bathroom and a small terrace area. The supplies were re-filled and towels/bedding changed every single day! never experienced that before:) Breakfast was lovely with a selection of fruit, pastries, cereals and eggs. Coffee and juices are also available. It has got very peaceful pool , you feel like you are at home and at your own pool :) If you would like to spend your holiday away from crowd but at the same time in the center of all the attractions with a reasonable price, go for it! Regarding to the noise that some guests are complaining, I believe it is matter of your rooms location. Just tell them that you do not want to hear the music that comes from the restaurant so they can place you in a suitable room. Not a big deal at all. The hotel is close to the Kata beach and Karon beach and is convenient for all main attractions. Overall, we would love to come back! Thanks to the staff, especially to Danny & Wichai

Convenience
This is an average hotel, nothing fantastic, with best attribute being location on Karon central next to many shops. 15 mins walk from Karon beach, staff friendly enough, bungalows linked by passerelles, nice enough swimming pool. About 1000 TBH. Could do witth some work. Probably best for those who want to be in the action near nightlife..

In need of an upgrade
This is not the hotel I was booking. Please be aware when booking online you don't get diverted to this 'sister' hotel. The one I was booking was on the beach called Kata BEACH Resort & Spa NOT Kata GARDEN Resort & Spa. I ended up in the Kata Garden hotel on a busy road and the beach was a good walk away. The hotel is in need of a full refurbishment. There are no lifts/elevators & our bungalow was at the very top of the hill. Is tugged to walk up and down the whole week. Our bathroom flooded the first day and the ceiling leaked on the last day. The staff came and helped cleared it up as best they could when asked. There is only one pool which was small for such a big hotel. There was a baby pool but it was dirty so not used by families. The hotel has a restaurant next door where breakfast was included but it was terrible! Lacked in any imagination at all. We ended up going elsewhere to eat. A couple of friends joined us and there were not happy either. He ordered an ice tea. It was so bad we tried to return it/ exchange for something else. We were told that the waitress would have to pay for it if we returned it. That is ridiculous and terrible customer service. How can the waitress be blamed for the barman's inefficiency and rudeness?? On our last day we asked the staff to call a taxi to take us to the another hotel but they said they could not get one and I could try to get one across the road myself. In the end I got a 'grab taxi' myself which was half the price then hotel and local taxi drivers were asking. This was so much cleaner, comfortable and nicer. If I had to find a good point about the hotel - I would say the hotel was close to shops, restaurants & bars. Leaving the hotel was the best part of our stay at this hotel.
