About Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle, built in the 11th century by William the Conqueror, is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and a favourite residence of the royal family. Tour the State Apartments and Semi-State Rooms, spot works of art by Rembrandt and Leonardo da Vinci, visit the imposing Gothic St George’s Chapel, the final resting place for British monarchs including Edward IV and Queen Elizabeth II, and witness the rousing Changing of the Guard ceremony.

Last Admission time 4pm for March – October, 3pm for November – February

As a working royal palace, the Castle is used frequently by The King for State ceremonies and official entertaining, and closures can occasionally occur at short notice.

Access to St. George's Chapel may vary, please visit the official website of the Chapel for further details

On Sundays, access to St George's Chapel is restricted to worshippers and not included in the regular visit.

Access to St George’s Chapel may be limited after 2:30pm, particularly on Saturdays. Please arrive earlier to avoid disappointment.
