Decent accommodation in a beautiful village on Exmoor. The bed was comfortable and the full English breakfast very good as well. I had no problem parking just outside on the street. I liked the feeling of staying in a family-run hotel and they were all friendly and helpful. Would return!

Lovely and clean and friendly staff. Decor could do with an update and the bed was a bit hit and miss but understandable in these older world properties. Breakfast was very nice too

Sadly when I arrived I was dismayed to discover that the bar and restaurant in the hotel were closed for renovation,it might have been better to know this before arriving after a 5 hour train journey. The owners did offer to make me a meal and that was kind but when I mentioned I needed to leave at 7:30 in the morning to get the train home I was informed that breakfast wasn’t served until 8!! I was able to, make a coffee in my room. Perhaps a reduction on the bill might have been appropriate but it wasn’t offered. The bathroom in my room was very basic and the room was far too hot, the windows were streaming with condensation, the bed was comfy and the bed linen was nice but sadly that’s about it.

Friendly enough, pleasant staff. But this place is in desperate need of some renovations and a deep clean (downstairs especially) and new carpets (?) to remove the funky smell, which was not good. But lots of potential!

This is an old building and part of the charm of the village. A lovely breakfast and welcome. The room was spacious and warm. The hotel does need refurbishment and some decoration but it is central and close to the shops and restaurants

Check in was a bit of a mix up despite having checked in online the day before. However, was resolved fairly quickly. The hotel is not modern but perfectly acceptable for an overnight stay. The room and bathroom needed a thorough spring clean. The bed was very clean and comfortable and towels were excellent. The tv was only marginally bigger than a computer monitor. Alas, the restaurant was closed due to the chef being on holiday which I was only advised of by email and advised to seek alternatives when checking in. By this time the restaurant next-door was fully booked and had to settle for fish and chip takeaway. Breakfast was OK but the table was not prepared properly.

Absolutely lovely staff. Made to feel very welcome. Very helpful and friendly. Very comfortable bed. Fabulous breakfast. Very good location. Very poor wifi in room. The decor in the room could do with a freshen up but it had everything I needed and the water was nice and hot for a bath.

Great location, for what we needed spot on. Its an old building, not modern, so don't expect the world. Owners were great, friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfy, clean and quiet, not huge but thats the building. Was told to run hot eater for a while to get it to come, takes a few minutes but when it arrives its HOT. Food in restaurant is excellent, service isn't quick thats the only complaint. But worth the wait. Would I stay again? Yes without hesitation, has everything needed

50th wedding, retracing visits. Reception not welcoming. Restaurant not welcoming. Toilet didn’t flush. Floorboards creaking. Room was very cold. Tv was 14 inches?? Breakfast was disappointing - eggs not cooked, 30 minute wait. No parking. We ate down the road at the bridge which was excellent. Dogs welcome and £5 per dog good value.
