Hostal Veracruz is clean and safe. Single rooms are small, cozy and functional, with private bathrooms and air conditioner. The rooms combine modern furnishings and fixtures with the traditional architecture of the building. The hostal is centrally located in the Puerta del Sol area; a great location, especially for solo travelers, with countless restaurants, bars and cafes and shops nearby, and within walking distance from major attractions such as the Prado Museum, El Retiro park, and the Royal Palace.

We stayed there twice in two weeks. Overall was a good stay. The second stay, our room was out of WIFI service. Needed to work and was unable to work because wifi was out of range. Depending what side of the Hostal you stay on, the street noise can go into 330am. Good staff and great area.

The property was in the best location possible for a first time visitor to Madrid. It was clean but very small- not sure how they managed to make the photos look so roomy. The check in was easy and everythong you want to experience and see is nearby.

Muy limpio, bien ubicado, habitaciones remodeladas/ recicladas a pesar de ser un edifico viejo. Staff muy amable. En el baño no hay secador pero te lo prestan, cambio de toallas cuando lo solicitas y limpieza diaria Un poco ruidoso ya que abajo hay mucho movimiento. Sin duda muy opción para una corta estadía en Madrid!

The hotel was easy to find and I’m glad there was an elevator, but our room was on the fourth floor so we did have to walk up around twenty steps. The room was small but enough room to lay out our suitcases which was nice. I wish there was a few more hooks in the washroom or in the room in general to hang more items. I didn’t like having to go ask the reception to use the hairdryer every time but I am glad they provided one. They even helped us to boil water so I would say the counter staff was very nice and pleasant. Their doorbell is very annoying and rings at all hours of the day when new people check in or when patrons forget their keys maybe. I would prefer if the doorbell wasn’t so loud to wake me up! The street noise is very very loud since they are below a bar that has live musicians all night but when you close all the shutters including the wooden shutters it is less noisy, but you will get no natural light this way. However I think with the location this is unavoided. People often forget to close the lobby door behind them but I think it’s crucial for safety to close this! Maybe the signage on the ground floor could be more obvious.

Hôtel bien situé, chambre petite mais lit confortable et grande douche. Malheureusement mal insonorisé. Notre chambre donnait sur la rue, beaucoup de bruit jusqu’aux petites heures du matin. Et la famille voisine de notre chambre était aussi très bruyante (cris et pleurs).

Great location! Right off Sol Plaza, so I could see the Christmas tree going up from the balcony. The room was small, but clean and was bright. Bathroom sink was tiny and hard to use. Toilet was fine for me, but I could see someone else bigger having issues. Shower was good. At night you can hear partiers until 5am, which is probably true for anywhere with bars nearby, but it's not too loud. I wore ear plugs to drown out any remaining noise with the windows shut. Overall, great value for the price and views.

The room was extremely small, did not look like the pictures shown. The parking the hotel had a deal with was closed, and there was no help with a partial reimbursement. Our air conditioner was linking on our bed, they did fix this. The staff were nice, but the room was horrible. It was close to everything, but it was so loud at night we couldn’t sleep.
