Great room looking out at the mountains. Very peaceful. The only thing I wish we’d known is that the walk to the hotel is straight uphill!

We greatly enjoyed our stay and recommend the hotel! We are at the hotel every day, which was very easy after days of adventure. The staff was very friendly and helpful. As previous reviews say there is a hill to walk up but we did not find it difficult however if mobility is limited a car would be necessary.

One of my best experiences. Friendly staff, cozy and clean room with a spectacular mountain view. The only drawback was the steep streets leading to the property, but the vehicle they provide for guests made our stay much better. I would definitely return to this charming hotel.

Our stay here was excellent! The staff were great, the room was large, warm and comfortable. They offer a lovely breakfast. If you can get a room with the view of the mountains, do it! The view, especially at night was like a Christmas painting. Little lights peppered throughout the snowy mountains. It is a bit of a walk up a hill, so if you have mobility issues, uber or know that it’s a bit of a climb. Would and do 100% recommend this stay!

This was one of our favorite hotels on our rail trip through Switzerland! We visited during the last weekend before the fall tourist slow down. (Businesses and restaurants close for a month before ski season.) The hotel was clean and we were upgraded to a suite. The view of all the snowcapped mountains from our balcony was gorgeous. Breakfast was bountiful! There were many choices for us. The hotel also allowed us to leave our luggage with them after check out so that we could go sightseeing before our evening train departure. Our two regrets were that we couldn't stay more than one night and we couldn't eat more for breakfast! ;-)
We highly recommend Hotel Alpenhof and will stay there again if we return to Gridelwald.

We love Hotel Alpenhof. The staff was very accommodating. Breakfast staff was very welcoming and made us very good coffee. Our room was spacious, newly renovated with an amazing view. The room was so comfortable. I Everything was sparkling clean. We love the high tech sauna. The location is perfect. We were sad to leave.
Only minor issues we had was the squeaky bed and the limited breakfast. The croissants weren’t good. No fresh fried eggs. Only hard boiled and scrambled egged. No nuts for the muesli and yogurt.
