The location is great, and the property is beautiful. It has great amenities - many pools, planned activities and a nice fitness center. The breakfast that is included with the stay is outstanding. A great selection of food, and in a beautiful location on the water. The renovated Avalon is very nice and comfortable. The only negative is that the water pressure, particularly in the shower, was poor.

We really enjoyed our stay. We got the breakfast included which also included a great 2pm snack time that was basically a late lunch. All the food was great!

Upon check in, we were presented with the opportunity to "upgrade" to a "more spacious" room for an additional $50 per day. We took advantage of this offer, only to find a very small room with a king-size bed, barely enough room to enter and exit the bed, and space for only one luggage rack. If this was an upgrade, we dread to think what our originally booked room was like. This was the room we received for about $600 per night! This was our only complaint. The hotel facilities were clean, convenient and beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. The staff were professional, polite and attentive.

The rooms have been newly renovated but due to their distance from the main hotel and the amenities it is simply rude to charge a $60 per day resort fee - we weee not at a resort but a BnB 3 blocks away

The walking distance between amenities in the resort was too great to consider it guest-friendly. The pricing for an “upgrade” King room with a view of “HVAC” equipment was terrible. Only because I was ignorant of other options on Key West did we fall for this overhyped “resort”. I cannot recommend it.

Well located but very expensive. Recently remodeled room had an annoying dripping sound in the wall. Don’t use the shampoo, very very harsh. Barely adequate in size for 2 people.

We liked the location, the pools and the beachside. The private jetties with their sunbeams were a nice place to relax. However, our room in the Avalon Building was dark and cramped, with only a small window which was in any event blocked by the TV. There was only one dining facility on the beach which was also open to the public and was always very crowded. Despite this the pools had very draconian rules forbidding bringing food onto the premises. This was very annoying as we bought some sandwiches for lunch one day that we had to eat in our room ! Our other major issue was the exorbitant parking charges, by far the largest of the four hotels in which we stayed in the Keys. This could be an excellent hotel but they need to be just a bit more customer friendly.

Room was VERY small; no natural light (Window was blocked by huge TV screen, other window was blocked by armoire); musty smell over the awful cleaning fragrance used in the room. Could not air out room, (windows were locked permamently) ; Shower had no pressure and lukewarm water; Refrigerator leaked in armoire onto floor. TV was not internet ready, so could not sign into our own Netflix/Prime accounts. Music by pools was very loud, distracting. For $675 per night, this was very overpriced.

Our stay started off beautifully once we found our room. The property is not so easy to navigate until you get the lay of the land. The room in the Avalon Parlour was pretty and unique. We liked the little secluded pool and patio area. The breakfast was great, although you had to take a little trip down and across the street to get to another part of the property where the breakfast room was. It had a lovely beach view and nice selection to get your day started. On the other hand...we noticed right off the bat that our room was much warmer than we liked but thought it just needed time to regulate once we arrived. Turns out the A/C was not functioning properly and after numerous visits to the front desk and plenty of opportunity to fix the problem as we were out all day, we ended up moving to another room because it would not have been comfortable for sleeping, and we felt that for the money we were paying, more attention should have been taken to fix the problem. Not to mention, our room was also not tended to that day. The room they moved us too was underwhelming and typical, a sad departure from the room we initially had. One other thing, if you like your doors to lock from the inside, this does not happen in any of the Parlour rooms apparently, according to Maintenance. Ours did not lock so I placed a large chair in front of the door overnight. Maybe overkill, but it made me feel better. At least the main doors to the building required a key for entry.

Our check in experience was unprofessional, they sent us to the wrong property and could not find our paid in full reservation. Then offered an upgrade to a room that was next door to the kitchen where breakfast preparation began at 5am. When moved to another room we were reprimanded for not making the complaint earlier and asked that we travel to the lobby a block away to get new keys. Our new room had a TV that didn’t keep a signal and no hot water in the shower. When we left our room in the morning for breakfast, a lizard jumped on our table to eat our food. After breakfast we were locked out of our room because they hadn’t programmed the locks to reflect the time change and assumed we had checked out. When we went to the lobby to officially check out they offered to waive our resort fees, but not the upgrade fee they had originally offered as a comp for the check in hassle. Service is slow, and sassy if you complain.

Loved the property! Our room was nice, I especially enjoyed the outdoor space (front porch and second story balcony) - we stayed at the Avalon House.
