Holiday Inn Express POUGHKEEPSIE by IHG, an IHG Hotel

The property is older and it looks like it. It was clean and it got the job done, but there is definitely no wow factor there. The door to our room was not even there was a gap at the top and it was clearly scraping the jam every time it closed and made a loud noise. The breakfast hours seemed odd to us it was if they were times that were more convenient for the staff than for the guests. We never actually got breakfast because we were either leaving before it served or too late.

The room smelled a dog piss.

Clean, perfect location, friendly staff, breakfast was a bonus!

Overall stay was good, clean rooms and bathrooms, pull out sofa was horrible nothing but a thin piece of foam no extra blankets or pillows just a sheet. I requested blankets and pillows and was told the room already had extra which it did not. Breakfast was delicious. Overall I would recommend staying here.

They didn’t have cinnamon rolls at breakfast. They put out some cheap danishes. Disappointed. Other than that it was okay - nothing special

We have had family stay at this hotel before because it is so close to our house. This stay was not great as my mom had to change rooms due to the noise and being located by an exit door that people used to go outside to smoke. Ww did not have housekeeping come by for 2 days and no clean towels. The overall rooms and inside of the hotel looked run down.

Terrible Stay – Do Not Recommend I had one of the worst experiences staying here. First off, the pool was closed — in the middle of summer — which was one of the main reasons I booked this hotel in the first place. On top of that, my belongings went missing during my stay. I never let anyone into my room, yet when I reported it, the staff brushed it off and told me it wasn’t their fault that I “misplaced” something. That was insulting and extremely unhelpful. To make matters worse, they refused to offer any kind of refund, discount, or even a gesture of goodwill for the issues I went through. The staff’s attitude was dismissive, and instead of helping, they made the situation even more frustrating. I also reached out to the site I booked through, and they were just as unhelpful. Overall, I felt like I wasted my money and time. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. If something goes wrong here, don’t expect them to care or do anything to make it right. One star — only because zero isn’t an option.

Extremely understaffed at check in, waited 30 minutes to check in. No pool, yet pictures on web site indicate a pool ! Cards didn't work returning to room late at night, no apologies from from desk for massive inconvenience.

Services

There was a group of individuals from another culture that were taking all of the breakfast items. There was only one individual staffed for the area and she was frantically trying to keep up. She did an excellent job. We reported it to the front desk. We left early the next day so not sure if the group was still there or if she had more help

The hotel, service, and room were fine; the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast had a fair variety of food options. However, finding a stained sofa was gross; we couldn't sit on it. The bathroom needs a deep cleaning. It doesn't seem that the pool will be repaired anytime soon, which shows that the hotel needs TLC. A pool is a great plus when picking a hotel.

Side exit door not locked and secured, it actually would not close at all, this was exit next to room staying in. Pool closed, actually never opened-yet advertised pool. People smoking right outside of door on property all hours of the day snd night. Staff however were very pleasant.

Pro tip: room away from elevators

Check in was great Did not get a first floor unit as requested No housekeeping at all on Saturday Had to go to front desk at 2:40 Pm for additional towels which were gracefully provided Breakfast was well equipped and cleaning was great Shower water pressure was horrible .. Room was tired and needs a lot of work One positive note was that the AC worked fine but was noisy!!

The bathroom needed some work. The edges and corners have a lot of dirt build up

Pool was not open, it still had the winter cover on it. But everything else was nice.

Easy access, cleanliness, excellent room. Very good breakfast.
