Short stay over for business

Confusing that a wellbeing centric hotel chain centred around gyms and swim has a restaurant that only seeks junk food. 1 vegan option (a burger) on the menu and everything is deep fried it seems. 90% meat based menu really lets the rest of the hotel down which is a shame. I love a hotel with a gym but probably won't be using village again considering it's not exactly the cheapest.

Great staff including the Manager. She checked to make sure there was safe food for me to eat at dinner & breakfast - the extra mile made me feel safe.

First the positives: helpful and professional staff, comfy bed and a good shower. Sadly the stay got off to a bad start with no decaff coffee in the room or available at reception, or for breakfast, are we back in the '90s? Fortunately the receptionist organised a couple of complimentary drinks from the onsite Starbucks. As there's no air conditioning there was a fan in the room. This had been much appreciated by a local spider who's cobweb from a few days earlier was still partly attached to it, the tv and the back wall. The poor cleaning was further emphasised by the presence of a dead flying insect that hadn't been cleaned from the window frame. Finally at bedtime I couldn't find a way of turning off the main room light other than by taking the key card out of the box inside the door, leaving me with an uncharged phone in the morning. Apparently this light switch is hidden behind the tv - Village put a sign up, it's not hard!

Food and pool were great! Excellent location for where I needed. Staff and room were as expected.

Some technical issues with check in but despite this staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. Food service was a bit slow but it was good when it arrived. Good pool facilities.

Arrived at the hotel and it looks as good as the photos. Tried booking in but only computers to book in, found a member of staff to help out as we had questions the computer couldn’t help with. The room was ok, windows that only open a few inches and a fan that didn’t really do anything. No air conditioning so air movement was very stale. The bed seemed comfortable and when it was bedtime we found out that what we thought was the duvet was infact the mattress topper, there was a thin sheet and the duvet was in the cupboard but didn’t have a cover. There was a wedding party at the hotel and from 23:00 until 02:00 they were running around the floors shouting and banging on doors. Spoke to staff about it in the morning to be told that’s what’s you expect when there is a wedding party there. Good luck getting sleep if there is a wedding when you stay. The hotel itself was pretty nice, the pool and facilities were good, lots of room service trays left over the corridors with dirty plates and food, general rubbish left over the floors in the hallways. It was a room for us to get some rest in, hoped it would have been better but know not to use it again if we come to Hull.

Toilet seat was loose and there was dirt on the toilet seat. When I mentioned to reception they said they would pass to duty manager. Duty manager then said to another member of staff loudly across restaurant that he wasn't going to fix seat because of it breaks worse then he's to blame. Very unprofessional and nothing was done to resolve at the time. I had to clean the toilet seat myself.

Great relaxing stay for a child free night. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Paid extra for the pool access and was perfect. Staying again tonight.

Paid £145 used the gym and there was no hot water for a shower in the entire building. Complained to staff stating that I had paid alot of money for no shower, And was going on a business evening out stinking. They offered me a free beer, if which I rejected, left my number for the manager to call me, to get a full refund, and no one called me. Disgusting

The hotel room was nice and comfortable, although noisy (the door was thin and had a gap underneath it so you could hear noise clearly from the corridor). The breakfast was okay although it was very busy and our table was cleared of our drinks when we were up getting our hot food (there was a queue with no plates and food was being replenished so we had to wait) and was given away so we had breakfast with another couple they we didn’t know (as there were no other tables) which was fine but not ideal. Other than that it was a nice stay, we would stay again but maybe not have the breakfast.
