The hotel is old and funky. Rooms are adequate, but not as advertised. The room was advertised on Hotels.com as with a desk and WiFi in the room. It had neither and the Alessandra manager was very unapologetic nor helpful at all about these misleading claims. The hotel is also on the THIRD floor (not second floor) with NO Elevator. Not bad once you've moved in, but be aware of having to carry your luggage up three flights of stairs to your room. Staff, other than the manager, was friendly and all spoke English.

This hotel could use some upgrades and still keep the charm...no elevator and 75 steps up to the actual hotel! With luggage it is brutal! This info should be stated as compromised individuals would not make it. Location close to main streets of Palermo's shopping. Great service getting an airport lift, which was on time @4AM! That is the best I have to say about this hotel.

The hotel is located in the old center but the neighborhood is not optimal. The entrance is strange but when you climb the two floors the hotel itself is clean and pleasant. The rooms are designed in a classic manner and has some incense smell which for me was tolerable but my wife hated it.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable time in Palermo and the Hotel Alessandra was very convenient. There was a good breakfast and the staff were very helpful.

Walk barely 10 minutes from the crowded streets surrounding the train station to Hotel Alessandra. Once you have navigated the stairs to the second floor, you enter into a bygone era. There are several lounging areas that are inviting and warm, like a hug from grandma. This is definitely "old world" at its finest. Meet Alessio, one of the staff, who treats guests like family, offering advice on where to go and what to see in perfect English... a real gentleman. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing hotel, then Hotel Alessandra is it.

Great budget priced hotel in historic centre of Palermo within walking distance of all the main historic sites and close to transport routes to places such as Monreal and Mondello. Antonio and the rest of the staff were very welcoming and obliging. Room was a little 'tired' but bed was comfortable. Good breakfast. Probably not suitable for people with mobility problems as there are quite a few steps to climb but didn't present a problem for us.

The hotel is about 5 minutes (walking) from the station. It is in an old palace which has seen better days but retains a certain charm. The reception and rooms are on the second floor but it’s a long way climbing up the stairs. You need to be fit and able bodied. The room we had was fairly large with a king size bed with a firm mattress. There is a big wardrobe, a chest of drawers, 2 chairs and a tv. The bathroom is OK with shower, wc, bidet, sink, mirror and hair dryer. It could do with some refurbishment. Both bedroom and bathroom are clean. From the bedroom window overlooking via Maqueda, you have some good views. The situation of the hotel is ideal as you can access many of the sites (churches, museums…etc….) on foot. Breakfast is a buffet with limited choice but it’s OK. The reception is open 24h a day. The staff, in particular Antonio, are very friendly and helpful.

Yes, the hotel is on a second floor with no lift and I can understand this can be a problem for some people. We had very little luggage so climbing all the way up did not worry as at all. However, the location is spot on, right in the heart of Palermo, five minutes walk to Quatro Canti (Four Corners). One can easily walk everywhere and enjoy some great restaurants nearby and all the main attractions of the city. The staff was wonderful; they could not do enough for us. The hotel is very pleasing inside and does not have a feel of a cheap hotel, however, the rooms vary and some are not very nice (room 11), but some are beautiful. It depends how long you are planning on staying, if more than one night, I would recommend asking for/or selecting a better room and paying a bit more (the prices are cheap anyway). Breakfast is very basic but acceptable. The atmosphere at the hotel is very relaxed and extremely friendly. I would definitely stay here again. For a cheap hotel, this one is great!

Great location in central Palermo as we could walk any where. Easy walking distance from train station. Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast ok. Yes there are stairs to get to with no elevator but we were fine with that. Hotel was prefect for us and have no problems with staying there again.

Friendly staff. Good budget hotel. I didn't have the breakfast but you don't need to as there is a good market nearby and the coffee in Palermo is awesome. The location is good for access to the train/bus station but it is not in a very nice part of Palermo. I didn't feel unsafe though. Overall good budget hotel for the price. The beds are tiny though - if you are taller than 5ft5 your feet would probably hang off the edge!

Hotel Alessandra turned out to be very clean, comfortable, safe and very conveniently located only two or three blocks from the train station, Palermo Centrale. The staff was very helpful... my Italian-speaking ability wasn't so good but the staff could speak some English and surprisingly, one of the staff spoke fluent Spanish (he was Sicilian but had worked in Spain) which helped as I spoke better Spanish than Italian (being from Texas). The hotel was a great value, very reasonable priced and I will definitely stay there again whenever I return to Palermo.
