The pictures and description of this place online do not do it justice. We had no idea to expect that we'd drive a rough cobblestone road up the mountain to stay the night in a fairy tale castle, complete with a tower and a truly BREATHTAKING view of the countryside from our tall French windows which opened up to admit a fragrant breeze. Truthfully, we chose the hotel only because it was close to Chavaniac-Lafayette, and we didn't expect much. But even if our expectations had been higher, I think this place would have exceeded them. A beautiful chandelier hung from a tall ceiling over our bed. And everything was old world charm but the rooms had modern amenities. TV, coffee maker, a beautiful bathroom with a heated floor. And a picturesque (and very reasonably priced) restaurant on the premises. There's also a truly delicious rustic breakfast. One can't expect multi-lingual staff at a place like this in remote Auvergne but the language barrier presented some comical problems for us driving in from Lyon to a place that has no street address, while trying to use GPS. We quite nearly got lost a few times. Thank goodness for the signs on the country roads pointing the way. We wanted to know more about the history of the place, but there was virtually nothing to be learned online and unfortunately even the staff members who knew English couldn't tell us much. Would go again in a heartbeat.

This was an imposing chateau, although perhaps not the most interesting architecturally. The interior was a little austere and there were restricted hours of service - it closed at 9pm! However a nice room with a beautiful view across the countryside.

Quiet and tranquille setting.Staff were friendly and helpful.Room was very clean and bed extremely comfortable.Set in renovated château and all furniture and decoration based on this with distressed furniture and plenty of nick nacks. Restaurant new and ultra modern. Did not cater for veggies very well but this is France!They need to get internet access and WiFi sorted. An enjoyable weekend,and would recommend if you are looking to get away from it all.

Endroit charmant, au calme, au centre d'une belle région

Accueil agréable. Toutes les infos nécessaires nous sont données. Le buffet du matin est bon. Pris en extérieur face à un paysage agréable. Un trajet pour relier la Chaise-Dieu plus simple et moins stressant que les deux trajets que nous avions suivis précédemment. Certes jolis en pleine forêt mais une chaussée très étroite. Notre séjour au domaine Saint Roch a été des plus plaisant.

Très calme et paisible. Idéal pour se ressourcer ! Une vue magnifique sur la vallée. Les villages aux alentours possèdent toutes les commodités. La piscine étant naturelle, nous n'avons pas piqué de tête car trop frileux, mais les plus téméraires profiteront pleinement de ce coin de fraîcheur :) Un très bel endroit.

Superbe bâtisse dont il a été tiré une belle prestation pour un séjour ou une étape. Calme et doté d’une très beau panorama.

Très beau cadre mais exterieurs peu soignés. Accès voiture compliqué et assez mal indiqué Lieu calme et silencieux. Tout le charme des anciennes demeures !

Very nice place

Très belle situation de l’hôtel, avec des chambres spacieuses. Restaurant panoramique avec des belles prestations. Le spa par contre est moyen et ne vaut pas les 18 euros demandé pour 2h. Il manque des transats à la piscine (seulement 7).

Un séjour très agréable dans un très beau cadre. Nous avons beaucoup aimé le calme et la vue. Personnel à l’écoute

La beauté du paysage et des bâtiments du domaine constitue la première raison de notre très grande satisfaction. Petit déjeuner excellent, dans un cadre très agréable. Très bon accueil. J'aurais aimé avoir une chambre au premier étage, avec vue sur le paysage.
