Lovely place for a visit to harbour as it's within walking distance. Staff were immensely helpful and friendly especially upon checking in (I struggled to understand where to park) and for advice during my stay. Room and bathroom were a little dated but comfy enough for a couple of nights. Breakfast food was good it's a shame about the hot drinks. Tea and coffee were quite literally in hot canisters and tasted absolutely awful. Maybe the machine had broken and that's why they were being used? Either way, they need to offer better coffee facilities! Had a lovely weekday visit here and if ever I was to visit Portsmouth again I would happily stay here again.

Reality does not match the pictures. Peeling paint and tired decor. Functional and comfortable but doesn’t scream top quality.

I made the mistake of booking a budget room. The room decor was tatty and dilapidated. I won’t do that again if I do decide to stay in the future.

The hotel room was very clean and comfortable, the reception staff were excellent and the hotel was in a very good location for access on foot to the historic docks and Gunwharf Quays. Did not eat at hotel or use the bar so cannot comment on these facilities. If you are able to utilise one of the hotel's free parking bays which we did, this is another asset of the hotel.

You could not fault the staff, they were great, the hotel is quirky, with lots of marine memorabilia and close to transport links. However, the room I stayed in smelt of damp and is in need of updating and some tlc. The hot tub and sauna were not working, which was disappointing.

Lovely place to stay, my only bugbear was the size of the tv was too small but you can’t have everything, staff were very hospitable and helpful

The room was rather warm, even after I'd turned the radiator off and opened the window slightly, but it wasn't unbearable. My bed was comfortable and I slept well each night. It's just a pity there are no usable / regular UK plug sockets near the bed. There's soap, shower gel and moisturiser in the bathroom but no shampoo (which was surprising) or conditioner. The shower head is inconveniently angled (and can't be moved) so you either step into cold water or risk getting the floor wet whilst the water is warming up! Plenty of tea, coffee, milk and sachets of hot chocolate. Also lots of storage - far too many hotel rooms don't have any drawers. Breakfast was good; maybe some fresh bananas or apples would have been good but there's some, presumably tinned, fruits, small pots of yoghurt, mini muffins and different breads, including GF options if you're happy to wait. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked and there's a good array of hot choices. There are some free parking spaces but you may need to get there early if there's an event on (the Trafalgar Dinner was an excellent evening and I hope to come back again). It's a 5 minute walk to the Historic Dockyard and 10 mins to Gunwharf Quays outlet shopping centre, so it was very conveniently located. There is a pool, but I was too busy to actually use it. All the staff I spoke to were very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Room warm and clean. Bed comfortable. Parking was ok, but could be an issue, at busy times. I have stayed here on several occasions and never disappoints. I believe value for money.

Staff excellent. Bit of free hotel parking on the front and side of the hotel but be prepared to use the side streets (£6 per night, permit from hotel reception) which was easy enough. Nice choice of drinks in the bar and reasonably priced. Had breakfast in the hotel, simple cooked breakfast (plenty of it) via buffet style self serve (cold options available), plenty of juices and tea/coffee. Big thing for this hotel is it's history (read what's on the walls and visit the library) and proximity to the sights, and the very nicely done shopping centre and eating venues on the Boulevard.
