The view from the bedrooms and the infinity pool was stunning, just sea and hills - very calming.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful and genuinely wanted everyone to have a good time.
As the property is quite a way from the centre of Ribero Brava and does not do meals apart from breakfast, you might be advised to hire a car.
That said, I used the local bus ( which stops outside )which is cheap and a fun way to travel on the old coast road , twisting and turning it's way up and down the hills between Ribera Brava and Funchal (90 minutes in total)
Doing that means you are able to enjoy the sights and meet many of the locals.
I walked the four kilometres or so into Ribera Brava a few times but took the bus back as it was all uphill and the temperature was in the mid to high 20's for the nine days I was there.
If you want to swim in the sea, there is a lido at Ribera Brava with toilets and changing cubicles (50 cents) which has a swimming pool and access to a sheltered harbour.
There are so many things to see and do all over the island so it is worth driving inland and into the mountains or taking an organised trip from Funchal.
The other side of the road from the guesthouse is a little bar owned by a lovely local couple where you can have coffee, drinks and snacks and just soak up the view.
