Great location - front entrance is through a bike store, the back entrance leads to the bus terminal and the ferry terminal. Staff was helpful and provided recommendations for touring the lake and food options. The rooms were Totoro-themed and spacious. Sound-proofing was not the best, but sufficient for a good rest.

A cozy little place

Timing House is located on a cliff, so it has two entrances on two levels. The back entrance corresponds to the listed address (123 Zhongshan Road) and is behind a bike rental shop. This entrance is very close to the bus stops/tourist information centre. The front/guest entrance has easy access to the public car park and a 7-11. The decoration is very modern, with a Totoro theme. There's a small garden with a pond and swing and a guest kitchen/common room. The rooms are spacious and clean, but only one room actually has natural light. My room doesn't, but as compensation, there's an indoor garden feature with lovely Totoro family statues, which makes you feel like you have access to nature. However, the lack of natural ventilation meant there was a slight drain smell that got stronger after a shower. You might want to plan your showers so you can run the extractor fan (which is tied to the lighting) for a while afterwards. The hosts are very friendly and can offer local advice and discounted vouchers for the ferries and bikes.

The place is quite nice. The room feels quite stylish, with a tiny garden separated by glass panel. The bathroom is very nice. I would come back to this hotel again

The staffs are extremely friendly & helpful. She spent time to converse with me upon check in and trying to offer recommendations for your stay which was thoughtful. She also went out of her way to assist me with urgent currency exchange. I like the overall design of the place; it's conveniently located with great nearby restaurants.

Extremely comfortable stay and the owners (plus their little dog) were most welcoming, friendly and helpful! Genuinely loved chatting with them - they gave some great tips on where to go in Sun Moon Lake and also offered a free drive to see fireflies during the annual firefly season. I didn’t realize my trip fell in the middle of the season and thanks to their kind offer to show us the fireflies for free, it turned out to be a big highlight of my trip. The hotel is also super conveniently located to the Bus drop off point/ Visitor centre where the bus from Taichung drops passengers off- I arrived in the hotel by foot in under 5min. The room was lovely and comfortable and the decor was really quaint. Highly recommended.

The hotel is a little hard to find because it is behind some storefront. The hotel staffs are all friendly. They gave a 15 minute briefing about what to do in Sun Moon Lake. What do and what to eat at each tour stops. At night they took us to a place to watch fireflies. That was very nice. The room is very clean and nicely decorated. There is a sitting area where you can enjoy coffee and tea. Nice patio with pond and fishes. My stay was very pleasant.

Very good location and car park is available across the hotel. Very well maintained hotel, clean and comfortable. Decorations are very creative and special..run by owners who are really caring, friendly and dedicated..with a cute dog to boot Highly recommended :)

The property is very clean and new. Good for value. The host was very friendly and helpful. Location was good too. Central to everything. Love the ambience. It seems like the host actually put a lot of effort in designing. The only critic would be the signage should be more obvious. It’s behind a shop thus it was hard to find.

Other than being hard to find at night, the stay was excellent. The hotel was cleaner and nicer than we expected. The next door 7-11 certainly added much convenience to our stay.

The facility's small entrance is located next to a 7-11 convenience store, across from the Sun Moon Lake Shuishe Zhongxing Parking Lot. There is also an entrance at the address (No.123, Zhongshan Rd), but the sign is so small and inconspicuous, and I had a little hard time finding it. The host was very friendly and provided me with some sightseeing tips. The entire facility seemed to be themed around the world of My Neighbour Totoro, and a great deal of thought had gone into the design. My room was very unique, and the installation expressing Totoro's family was so cute. However, to be honest, I wouldn't recommend staying here. The room smelled like a toilet, and it wasn't easy to sleep. The air conditioner was also very loud. As others have mentioned, the thin walls also contributed to the noise. The smell and noise were so bad that I considered sleeping in my car in the parking lot.

Lovely guest house with friendly staff. Check-in is only possible before 18, and check-out is usually between 8 and 11, but I explained that I had to catch the bus to Alishan at 8, and staff arranged for me to check-out before 8. :) There's no elevator, and rooms are on the 2nd floor, so the guest house is not suitable for those with limited mobility or heavy luggage. There's 2 entries, one of which is very conveniently located next to a 7-eleven.
