Great hotel, staff and very clean

Oasis in poor area of Mauritius. Our taxi driver warned us against going on the beach at night due to a recent horrific incident. The area looks poor, stray dogs, lots of rubbish and rubble. However la pirogue is a bubble of loveliness, landscaped gardens, direct access to glorious beach. Nightly activity programme, food was generally very good with plenty of variety. Most staff very friendly and helpful especially if leaving a tip. Pool very cold. Additional activities offered very good: walk, snorkelling, kayaking. Taxi drivers at hotel very helpful and you can just about get everywhere from the hotel although seems there’s just the one main road so traffic can be bad.

We had a great 10 day honeymoon at La Pirogue. They were very accommodating at the beginning and end of holiday giving us a spare room to shower in. The food everg day was incredible. Cocktails lovely. No extra hidden charges. We played crazy golf and used the sports facilities too. Would definitely recommend and we will be back soon!

Adjoining garden bungalows were good for us with our two teenage children. A dated resort. Convenient for beach. We spent a lot of time at Sugar Beach which is the sister hotel as they had more to offer. Drinks and food was a strange set up at Sugar Beach with certain areas for certain staff. Padel was very expensive. Spa facial was good but not a great welcome. Staff weren't overly friendly as our previous resort were.

Wonderful location, awesome facilities and bungalows, great staff and service.

Stayed for 4 nights at end of 3 week stay visiting nearby family. The resort, rooms and restaurants are all very good and we had a lovely relaxing stay. The grounds are extremely well kept and our daughters loved taking part in all the available activities. We stayed in a garden bungalow adjacent rooms on all inclusive package. Rooms were very clean and housekeeping daily was appreciated. The resort is large and spread out so might not be suitable if you dont like walking but this did not bother us. Only minor suggestion we would make is to have organised the Wolmar dining tables better so we didnt have to wait for tables 2 nights. We would happily come and stay again in the future.

I would give a rating of the 4.8 out of 5. There were some hiccups at reservations but the SunLife manager was excellent and stepped in to fix everything. The setting with the palm trees and beach was superb, the breakfast buffet and Mauritian dinner buffet were excellent and the best thing was the warmth, hospitality and thoughtfulness of the staff. The only drawback was the stray dogs on the property.

Our stay at the hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were met with warm hospitality and impeccable service that made us feel truly valued. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, demonstrating professionalism and kindness at every turn. The atmosphere was welcoming, the cleanliness impeccable, and the attention to detail remarkable. Whether it was the delicious dining options or the thoughtfully curated experiences, every aspect of our stay was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable and satisfying experience.

We thourougly enjoyed our stay La Pirogue Mauritius. The staff were very friendly, courteous, and helpful. The beach in front was amazing. Open buffet offered a selection of local and international dishes, and were freshly prepared and tasty. Overall, if we ever go back to Mauritius, staying here again has a high possibility. The only part I didn't understand and couldn't get an answer to when asked was the fact that while water was available through out the day for free, they are charging about 3 USD at dinner.

Great character property with exceptional service.

A truly mind blowing and heavenly experience

My stay at La Pirogue overall was excellent. The grounds & decorations for Christmas were beautifully done, & the uptake of the grounds are apparent. The hotel had many activities for families & health activities which were nice to see. I decided to do a work out class at 8am but the instructor never showed. Not a huge deal, I went to the beach instead. The rooms are very spacious & beautifully decorated- in a beachy feel. Bathroom is a nice size. The shower pressure was very nice. The air conditioner unit in the room was high up on the ceiling. It was at 18C (64F) & didnt seem to do much. It should have been freezing in the room but was not. It may have just been that room (88) but unsure. It automatically switched off when you left the room, which was a nice eco friendly option. The bed wasnt the worst, but wasnt the best either. A nice touch was on Xmas Eve they left gifts in the guest rooms, a stocking full of candy and some other treats. I was half board (meaning it included breakfast and dinner but I paid for all beverages- soda, water, alcohol) The buffet style dinner reminded me of a cruise ship, lots of options, not the best quality but I managed to find something. Again, the spread for Xmas Eve was stunning. The manager of the property Vyas is very caring & attentive to the needs and wants to see the clientele happy, which is very refreshing and appreciated. The beach is gorgeous. Some staff friendly, some not. Mostly they were. I would go again without hesitation

Welcome was amazing. Very courteous staff. The hut style bungalows are fabulous. Atmosphere and surroundings ideal. We had problems with our bathroom and tv. The tv was sorted but bathroom shower needed proper ventilation and fittings. Overall our family had beautiful memories to cherish forever. Thanks 🙏

Venue was good but the selection in the restaurant for vegetarian was poor

Everything about the hotel is just spot on. The stars of the show are undoubtedly the staff.
