On Expedia it was advertised as a poolside view room and breakfast for 2. They initially did not give me a poolside room but changed it when I showed them the Expedia booking. Now they refused the breakfast for 2 and said that when I booked that I should have selected/stated it was 2 occupants so it was going to be only one breakfast. They front desk staff do not understand or know about the Expedia adverts.

Check in process is laborious, and time consuming. Front desk staff are not attentive and need additional training.

Check in was laborious, time wasting and two hours later than advertised check in time. Service was average. Hotel.com, and local hotels reservation information did not sync either due to intentional deliberate action, or outright careless. I highly suspect the former and not the later. Service and experience witnessed was not typical of my experience at Protea.

Quite amazing

For Owerri, and indeed the rest of the south east of Nigeria, where decent hotel accommodation is in short supply, the Protea Owerri is a great addition. The standard of the rooms, of the common facilities and the variety of the buffets are not easy to find in the south east. The comfortable bar stocked with books is very nicely Protea. While the manager was very helpful, the rest of the staff didn't quite measure up. The receptionist wasn't very helpful and I was unable to get a hamburger at the bar even after one hour. The restaurant staff were not very easy to get hold of, perhaps because I was there on a very busy weekend. To be fair, when I did manage to attract their attention, they were reasonably helpful.
