Very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are clean. Breakfast very simple but good

Zarco b&b is an affordable place to stay in central Funchal. For the price, we were not expecting frills, and there certainly were none. It is a very basic hotel. The breakfast each day was really good value, with a wide selection of continental breakfast foods, including freshly baked croissants and cakes, and lots of fresh fruit. They even offer to make you a packed breakfast to order if you need to leave early before the breakfast service begins. The room itself was basic but clean and did the job. The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially the man who works evenings. The hotel is situated right in central Funchal on a bustling street, which can be very noisy at night. I would definitely bring ear plugs! Getting around Funchal from there is super easy though, and all the major sights in central Funchal are less than a 10 minute walk away so it is super convenient. There is also a really good car park nearby if you are renting a car (Almirante Reis car park). Overall I would highly recommend this b&b if you are looking for something cheap and basic with a good breakfast included, and if you don’t plan to be in the hotel much.

Excellent location close to beach, marina and all major sites. Room was small, but clean and overall comfortable. Nice breakfast. Unfortunately, some noisy guests did not make our sleep great.

Great location, spotlessly clean, really good breakfast

The ONLY positives about this place is the location and the breakfast is ok. The beds are horrible. Like sleeping on cardboard with one single flat pillow. You have to shuffle along the wall to get to the other side of the room because the room is so small the bed takes up the entire room. We went to the desk to request more pillows, to which she replied we could have some tomorrow but not tonight. Well, we never got them. The receptionists were all less than friendly as well. And the hotel is very stingy with towels?

Perfect location and great little place! Staff were not especially helpful or friendly, but everything else was good!

Great hospitality. Perfect for our one night stay. We woke up to catch the sunrise at pico da ariero and the gentleman working the desk was there to greet us before we left at 5:30am, with a breakfast for the road. Smaller rooms with a bit of an echo from the courtyard/hallways but would definitely recommend. Not to mention Zarco is in a great spot.

We love the Surrounding areas. Property not appropriate for free mobility, many stairs and no elevator. Rooms of ok size, bathrooms extremely small, not appropriate at all for heavy weight people. Cleaned facility.

I enjoyed my stay at Zarco very much. The room was very comfortable and renovated with beautiful linens and a great bathroom. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet is outstanding with pastries, fruit, eggs, deli meats and cheeses and excellent juice and coffee. It’s also very well located walking distance to the historic area, the marina and beach promenade and great cafes and shopping. My only complaint is the street noise since my room overlooked the busy square below with a cafe open until 2:00am and lots of noisy people. I would happily stay there again but ask for an interior room. Be aware that you have to walk up 16 stairs to enter the reception area. I was lucky that some charming guests helped carry my large rolling suitcase up the stairs! Overall an excellent value and charming place to stay in Madeira.

Wonderful stay and reasonable price . Nice breakfast . Central location . But if you need elevator , this property will not sit you . Some room may be nosier after mid- night .

A lovely hotel, had everything we needed and in a great location within walking distance to everything.

Staff were very friendly and helpful

A fantastic location within walking distance of so much. There's a great little bar next to the hotel that's very well priced, but does produce a little noise at night. The hotel only has one family room which is a great size but as it's right above the bar and opposite the breakfast room it is a tad noisy at times, but this is offset by comfy beds, a great shower and nice staff. The continental breakfast is plentiful and tasty. 10 minutes walk to a fantastic park and a couple of minutes to the seafront. Bus to the airport leaves just across the road so great transport links. We stayed either end of our cruise and would stay there again with our child.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Dirty cleans, dirty wall, dirty bathroom, the room is so small that if you bring more that one carry on, you would have to open the door in order to be able to open the second suitcase. Or put the suitcases on your bed.

Nice hotel with great location to everything. Very nice staff. Breakfast was nice. Overall a nice hotel.
