Lovely place, kind and welcoming host. Clean and well kept, and peefect for what we needed, which was to be within close walking distance of the cit centre and colleges. Grateful for the loan of an umbrella as it rained heavily while we were there!

Spent a wonderful couple of days at 40 winks hotel. Room was very comfortable, great location for walking around Durham. Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked and served hot. Will definitely return. All staff very friendly and welcoming.

What a gem of a place, ideal location, gorgeous views, super comfortable room and really friendly staff. One of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had. It’s so nice to stay somewhere with so much character, if you’re going to Durham, stay here.

Absolutely loved our stay at 40 Winks, the room was so beautiful with a gorgeous view of the Cathedral. It felt romantic, relaxing and special. Only a 5-10 minute walk to get to the main attractions and lots of food options. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone staying in Durham.

Beautiful hotel, decor was fantastic, everything spotless and of the highest standard. Breakfast was amazing - restaurant standard. Can’t recommend this place highly enough, 5 mins walk down the hill to the town

This was our second stay at 40 winks and it was even better! Warn welcome, beautiful decor, delicious breakfast. Host went out of his way to make our visit run smoothly as we were here for a graduation ceremony. We will be back. Didn’t have time to use the new bar so we must return!!

Such a lovely boutique hotel only 5 mins walk to the riverside. All staff were so friendly, the furnishings are so beautiful and the food is outstanding!

Great location, so close to town centre, fantastic host, George couldn’t do enough for us. Lovely room overlooking the quiet cobblestone one way street in view of the cathedral. Breakfast has a selection that is cooked to order and is amazing, the full English is a must. Had a wonderful short stay that couldn’t have been better, thanks 40 Winks

George and his team were amazing and went above and beyond to be welcoming and take amazing care of us! The room was lovely, too, and clean. We look forward to visiting again!

Absolutely superb. Breakfast amazing. Staff very friendly. Even has a chauffeur service to and from the Train Definitely be back.

A great place to stay when visiting Durham. Great view of the cathedral from the room. Room was extremely comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.

What a Beautiful place to stay! The room we stayed in was gorgeous and it’s easily the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. The view was amazing. Staff were friendly and welcoming. All of the facilities were wonderful and breakfast was so nice! I can’t wait to come back!
