If you're looking for something different to do while visiting the island of Bali, a tour to the traditional village of Trunyan would be just the thing to add to your list of visits! Here you will witness the ancient and unique burial methods of the Trunyan people and learn about the local culture.
Here, the Trunyan people are very enthusiastic about preserving their traditions and culture. One of the most interesting parts of their culture is the funeral ritual.
What makes Trunyan so special? Corpses! The Trunyan people maintain an ancient magical burial method. They protect their traditions, and it has not changed for centuries, their ancestors decided not to bury their dead.
Unlike other villages in Bali, when someone dies they will be buried in a grave or cremated. However, the Trunyan people lay the body on the ground, and only cover it with woven bamboo. As a result, you can see the corpses decomposing naturally.
The tour continues with a visit to the statue of Dewi Danu, which is the largest statue of a Goddess in Bali.
