This property is a rent by the hour hotel. We checked in and went to our room where we were met with a strong smell of cat urine, an electrical outlet that was not properly covered, dirty socks in the hall way and when I spoke to the front desk and said I did not feel safe staying at this hotel they refused me a refund. I tried to speak to Expedia who will not do anything to resolve this issue. They are perfectly happy to allow slum hotels like this to use there platform and take no responsibility when faced with unsafe conditions. Photos below but obviously can’t capture the smell.

The good thing about the hotel is the location as its just walking distance from byward market and shopping area. The rooms are a bit spacious plus they have connecting rooms for a big family.
The parking is additional at $10 per night.
The bad thing is we booked a room for four but the towels provided are just for 2 and missing shampoo bottle wherein you have to asked the reception. And what's very inconvenient is that you have to go down the lobby (from 4th flr) to get your request as he said he is all by himself when we checked in (6pm).
The place needs a total renovation. Find the place a bit dark, not sure if its the carpet or the lighting.

I didn’t like the fact that the room was scheduled to be cleaned every second to third day. When I stay at a hotel, my expectations are to have the room cleaned every day. Excuse given was that they were maintaining the same standards during Covid. Covid is long over and the standards during that time frame no longer apply.
The hotel needs to be modernized as the carpet and furniture are outdated.
I will reframe from booking with Days Inn in the future if they still maintain the two to three days cleaning schedule.
