Really nice place, friendly staff, convenient location… the only 2 things that stopped me from giving a 5 star were: valet parking wait time, and the pool (water condition, and seating area). But that’s just me being picky. Honestly i would go again.

Absolutely beautiful hotel as expected. The staff was phenomenal. The only issue we had was that there was no self parking, however the valet service was great!

I first checked into a room that was in what I can only describe as catacombs of the hotel with a beautiful view of the hotel’s HVAC systems. After calling the front desk and asking for a room that maybe showed something else because it was my first time here, they put me in a room on the fourth floor overlooking the front door and busy intersection. It was quite loud most of the night. I chalk this up to having not booked directly with them. Hotels tend to treat these kinds of online bookings poorly in my experience. The condition of the shower is terrible. The water trickled out and little rubber parts of the shower head were shedding off while I was using it. There was barely any pressure so I didn’t bother washing my hair. It is an old building that needs a serious update. Next time I think I will stay at the Westin.

My room was not ready when I got there. That’s ok I was told when my room was ready they would text me and my luggage would be in my room. It was not. I had to call down. 20 min later still no luggage I had to go down to the front desk to get it myself. The usb charger in the room did not work. Light over my side of the bed burned out. And I went into the restaurant bar across from front desk. Ordered oysters and they did not have any. So it wasn’t great. I will say the valet was excellent. All the guys who helped with my car. Three times! They were great!

We were booked to stay at the property on Feb 15. This was the week of the blizzard in Ontario. We tried to cancel on Wednesday for Saturday and were told no there were no cancellations. We asked for an exception due to the weather and were told no by the property. We then asked to stay another time instead. We were told no by the property. We then asked for a small voucher / discount to stay at a different time and were told no by the property. We then sent an email stating we are trying to spend money in Canada and would love to support this property in the future. We did not even receive the courtesy of a reply. This is an inflexible policy. A legacy property such as this should have much better customer service. The reason we could not travel was literally a once-in-a decade storm and they showed no compassion or understanding. We are extremely disappointed. We visit Ottawa often and will never stay there or at any Fairmont property again. A small offer of free breakfast or $50 off a stay is not too much to ask when they charged us $385 for a night that we did not stay there. This is an extremely disappointing example of corporate greed.

The hotel is great, the only problem we see is that you can hear everything from room to room. We had to call front desk at midnight so our noisy neighbor would stop talking so loud.
Smoked salmon bagel is not smoked but cooked salmon.

The staff here were incredbly friendly and helpful, and it was really nice to have a café only a 3 minute walk from my room. The main issue that I had here was that the airflow isn’t great. I had to keep the window open as the steam from the washroom made the entire room feel damp, and we stayed here late winter. And unfortunately I noticed quite a bit of dust on the walls. Otherwise, everything was great :)

I liked the proximity to the Rideau Canal for skating, and the historical buildings a short walk away. The hotel itself is beautiful in an 1800s way. The dining hours are pretty inconvenient against the check-out times.

Valet parking was a disaster. Poor communication and left the car unlocked in an outdoor parking lot.
Good hotel if you’re not using a car. If you are, steer clear

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times. It has been hit and miss. The building is magnificent and you can feel the history that this building holds. The service (especially personal and hygiene) had been the problem in the past with us. Bathroom was still not clean (to our likings so please take with a grain of salt) and the towel had funky smell to it... But the newly renovated restaurant and the bar area was nicely done! We enjoyed our meal at the restaurant and serving staff were very pleasant.
Valet parking situation ...oouf...That needs a major improvement.
