The Château Laurier is a hotel. I choose to stay in almost every time I am in Ottawa. The location is perfect for business and pleasure. The hotel staff aim to please. This trip as we were travelling as a couple, we upgraded our suite to provide a little more room and a beautiful view of the parliament buildings The hotel bar makes fantastic cocktails, and the bartenders love to create for you Although I did not go to the buffet breakfast this time, I typically indulge one morning as it is delicious and provide so many options. The pool is great for swimming laps, but leaves a little something to be desired compared to other Fairmont hotel pools. I am already looking forward to my next trip to Ottawa and my stay at the Château Laurier.

The air conditioning was minimal at best. They did driver a fan though. Still the room never dropped below 22. There was no fan in the bathroom so if you "sat down", you had to close the door after you sprayed something. No fridge to keep my things chilled. Only a mini bar. No hot tub. Television was mounted but not able to adjust. Such a beautiful aesthetic and very rich in history. Like staying in a museum instead of a luxury hotel. Definitely needs to be modernized with simple luxuries as being able to move a television, turn a fan on in the washroom, climate control without having a fan or two, and a fridge to keep my items chilled. Other than that it was very nice.

For the price, our stay was just ok. The room was clean and big enough, but we had to call down for more towels and toilet paper because the supply in the room was low. The beds are bouncy, and all the closet and bathroom doors are ill-fitting and require a heft to open and close (which results in a loud noise). The gym is nice, but the gym lockers are rusty and the showers have low water pressure. Also, note this hotel has a nice historic pool but no hot tub.

My wife forgot a beautiful ring on the night table. I called in and ased to check and return it via post. Never got a reply. Further contacted by phone and email to management and Genevieve... Nobody ever bother to follow up with us!!! I did not expect such miserable reaction for a so called 4 stars hotel!

Room was very outdated with old smelly carpeting. If you’re going to be a pet friendly hotel you need to eliminate carpeting at least in rooms! Most of the staff was like deer in headlights (seemed overwhelmed). Waiting 45 minutes for valet parking isn’t ok ! You can’t get by on historical and architectural beauty alone. Still need service !!!

It was a great hotel, I just wish the room were nicer. I didn’t get the luxury feel in my room at all even tho it was EXPENSIVE. I could literally use the sink while on the toilet, water was dripping in the shower. That said, the employees were incredible !!

A classic old railway hotel with an abundance of character and a prime Ottawa location close to Parliament Hill and the ByWard Market. Only complaint is the parking situation is a shambles as they don’t allow self-park anymore and there aren’t enough staff to efficiently handle the number of arrivals. Checking-in time consuming as only one staff on counter on a Sunday afternoon.
