Overall Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5) My stay at the Fairmont Château Laurier was absolutely exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the service was warm, professional, and attentive. The historic charm of the building is undeniable — it feels like stepping into a Canadian castle with all the modern comforts. My room was clean, elegant, and offered a beautiful view. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and every amenity was thoughtfully provided. I also really appreciated the central location — perfect for exploring downtown Ottawa, Parliament Hill, and the Rideau Canal. Dining at the hotel was also a highlight, with delicious food and impeccable service. Overall, I highly recommend the Fairmont Château Laurier for anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay in Ottawa.

Everything was great except the morning dining choices. I unfortunately opted for croissants and jam. The jam was too sweet to enjoy; it came with marscapone as well. When I asked for butter instead, all they had was salted butter. Help me here. Maybe this is how people eat in English Canada but certainly not in France or Québec. Otherwise, a perfect stay.

The parking was problematic. We were led to believe that it was a 24 hour parking with in and out privileges. We arrived at 5 pm Friday, but needed to be gone by 3 pm on Saturday. That was an issue as we were at a show at the NAC and could not be back to get the car until 4:20. We needed to get the car and move to another parking lot for the afternoon. It was an inconvenience.

Beautiful property but service was lacking. Hotel was overbooked due to a conference and no space was available for onsite/valet parking. Apparently there was a waitlist. Had to find overnight parking a few blocks away. Our room wasn't cleaned until close to 6pm after after calling to say that it was still not cleaned as of 4pm. Room service attendants were very nice.

If it’s your first time in Ottawa it’s certainly near everything you’d want to see, but beware, the area gets a bit rowdy at night, and there’s a homeless problem mostly surrounding the CF Rideau Centre. The property itself is underwhelming. The rooms aren’t maintained well. The bathroom smelled like mildew. The pillows smelled like they've never been washed. The images of the parliament view room are actually quite misleading, the window is very small, I’d estimate about 3’x5’, yup that small, it’s hard to see beyond what’s directly in front the window. The pool had an extremely high smell of chlorine, and when splashed in the face, the water tasted extremely salty; had to get my little ones out right away. I can only imagine how much chemical was in there and zero filtration actually happening. The only reason service has 3 stars is because the check in was fast, and valet is efficient. However the checkout was excruciatingly painful. With one person in line, I waited 30 minutes to have my invoice printed and hand in my room cards. I wouldn’t stay here again. Disappointed with this Fairmont. Does not compare to the Royal York in Toronto at all (where we got married, and chose the Ottawa location to celebrate our anniversary this year)

A spectacular building and great service, but the rooms themselves leave a lot to be desired. The bed was hard and creaky, the bathroom was tiny, and the view we paid extra for was through a pretty small window. My advice for anyone in the future would be to come in for a meal or a coffee, walk around the building and save some money on another more modern hotel.
