Lord Elgin Hotel

The location is very convenient and walkable to nearby sightseeing spots (Parliament Hills, Byward Market, etc).The room is clean and quiet.

Excellent stay!

Room are very small, very dated, not worth the price. Would stay at other hotel for much cheaper. What end to try out this hotel for the history but not worth it. The service was exceptional, but room very disappointing for the price😩

The front desk person, at check in, didn't say hello, as I'm giving my last name for the reservation she cuts me off with "all I need is a piece of ID" no hello or welcome. In processing my visa, she added a deposit which is fine, bit said nothing. I had to ask why the amount for authorization was almost double.

I enjoyed my stay at the Lord Elgin Hotel. My room was huge for my just myself, which I appreciated after staying in hotels of much smaller size on the same trip. I appreciated the room service option for breakfast. The hotel is perfectly located to visit all the main attractions, nothing is far away. There are also some nice restaurants in the area. I was also happy to see that the gym had a decent level of equipment. I would just say that the entrance was not quite as grand as in the pictures. Also, it seems to be a popular hotel for locals from Ontario, so reception can get very busy.

We were checked-in by Charlotte who was absolutely lovely. Our room was okay but a bit on the small side. The bed was small as was the bathroom which you could barely close the door. I guess city space is at a premium. The room was clean and had all the necessary amenities. On the 3rd night of our stay I noticed the room next door was a bit noisy but as I was able to get back to sleep I didn’t mind so much, however the last night of our stay was really noisy and continued for most of the night. The doors were being banged closed and they were in and out all night. It also sounded like furniture was being moved about. I was fully awake and could not get back to sleep from 5 am. Not good especially with a 5 hour train journey then an 2 hour drive ahead of us. I later realised from hearing someone with a radio entering that this room was being used by staff for whatever purpose. I reported this to the manager at the front desk as we checked out and she said that as I had booked through a ‘third party’ I.e. Hotels.com she couldn’t see the details of my booking and therefore couldn’t do anything at that time. She however assured me that once she had spoken with a senior manager she would reach out to me via email. At this time I’m still waiting for this email. The hotel and its restaurant, which we used a few times was good but this just spoiled what was otherwise a good experience.

A beautiful old hotel right in the centre of Ottawa. Convenient for all that the capital has to offer.

Very nice, confortable hotel! Helpful staff - nice clean, quiet rooms. More affordable than Chateau Laurier.

The hotel looks rundown but there was work being done constantly while we were there. The only gripe is the $50 parking, but, it was valet and included in and out privileges. The valets were always quick and cheerful

Another great stay! We got upgraded to an amazing room with a view of the war monument and Chateaux Laurier (don't know why)! Just one night but super comfortable

This was my first time staying at the Lord Elgin. It was clean, quiet, room was lovely and walkable to the attractions downtown. Used the valet service for the car which was easy and reasonable (though note: you can park for free and overnight on the weekends in Ottawa). Would definitely stay there again.

Room was very small but also very nice Staff were great

Clean rooms & comfortable beds. The staff were friendly and fast to respond to any requests. Hot tub was down for maintenance when I stayed but it was overall a great stay.

This property was in a great location to see many sights of Ottawa. They had all the amenities. Staff was amazing. Rooms were very clean. The restaurant was amazing as well. I will be back and wohld highly recommend!!

The heritage value

This hotel is conveniently located within the walking distance to all the attractions. Stuff is friendly and accommodating. Even though you have to pay extra ($25 CA )for the breakfast if you want, it's still worth it ,and unlike other hotels they serving breakfast till 11 am. We will definitely stay in this hotel again.

Room smelled, valet inattentive, workers arguing. Alot different than the last time we stayed there. Has been one of my favorite hotels. No concessions made for sleeping in a smelly room.

Moving out child to University of Ottawa. Needed to stay close to the university

Everything was amazing it is a beautiful hotel in a great area. Staff very polite and helpful.
