I have used the Gran Hotel for years. The staff is helpful and the breakfast is included. The lunch special at the restaurant for 15 mil includes a drink, soup, main course and desert.
The pool is freakishly cold but refreshing on hot days. The only drawbacks are the wifi is spotty in the rooms and downtown is noisy - bring earplugs.

Our room was very roomy and everything worked fine. The mattresses were a little hard but that seemed to be standard for Colombia. The staff were just excellent all of them - very helpful and friendly. We arranged airport pick-up on arrival and engaged the driver to take us to the next destination 4 hrs away, We also arranged for pick-up from our last destination 6 hrs away. Affordable, great service - a minibus on our own with cold drinks - and a safe a friendly driver. We are sure to stay at this hotel next time we go to Medellin.

Room was ppl there is very nice and there to help if needed with no put off only let down they close there restraurt ,, they at least need a microwave in the room sence there not had that the beds is a little hard could be a little more softer but better thst most places there miss there bar it is not safe to go out to the bars there always felt safe with the one they had and had good service there when they had it up and going

The hotel is very clean indeed. The people were really friendly. It is in a good central area where you can feel safe enough to walk free during the day. At night there are many homeless sleeping around the streets within the vicinity of the hotel, but you can walk without being bothered. The breakfast and restaurant food offering needs serious improvement.

The hotel is centrally located in downtown. service is good. we took 2 bed + extra room. shower was horrible as well as toilet. everything seems very old and not maintained properly. Breakfast which is free was worst we had in colombia

Terrible WiFi, i asked for a no-smoker room and all the hotel smell like cigarettes. The food was always the same, bad combination, very poor options and the worst part was they served you like you were a prisoner: people in line, you have the same portion, you couldn't pick more cheese e.g. and the location horrible! i felt very insecure, the streets dirty and a lot of beggars...

The hotel is fairly clean. The room was comfortable but the shower area was a bit small. The wifi was terrible. Some rooms in the hotel are very noisy, I had to move from the room I was first assigned. The second room I was given was reasonably quiet.

this is downtown Medellin. hotel is around 35 years old, they have done a good job of maintaining and updating. my room had no A/C but didn't miss it. you can walk around safely with some heightened awareness.

Hotel was cheap and staff at front desk were helpful. Room was a bit weird with lots of signs about fines for damaging or stealing items. Treadmills in the gym were worthless. A nice hotel but a bit run down. Still a good value and good location if city center is where you want to be so I'd stay there again.

On check in, we were refused, because my boyfriend did not bring his passport, he had I.D. and the hotel was booked in my name and I had proof of identity, he had proof of identity also, but they would not accept. so we were there with no hotel to stay in. we looked around and found another hotel that did accept both of our proof of identity, Gran hotel staff were really idiots. I do not recommend this hotel at any rate they offer.

Located in downtown Medellin, very slow check-in and check-out, restaurante service was bad, the waiters did not know the menu and the food was terrible. The rooms are clean, not air-conditioned. Looks safe. I stayed because all other hotels were full. I´d probably never stay again, prefer to be awake all night.
