Holiday Inn Express LONDON - LUTON AIRPORT by IHG, an IHG Hotel

The hotel was extremely cold. Especially in the dining area. We were told it had been a long hot summer and that’s why air con was on. We pointed out that it was now Autumn and cold. Public transport to the hotel isn’t good. You either have to get off at the nearest stop then navigate steep steps. Or go to the next stop and navigate a very steep hill. At 75 years of age this isn’t easy. Especially with luggage. On our arrival we did hire a taxi and for a 5 minute journey it cost £16.90. On a positive note the hotel was quiet & probably the nearest hotel to the airport.

For what it is, it was great. I also love the provision of having some cold breakfast for people leaving very early.

Great location and friendly staff. The room was nice but the shower / bathroom had a small leak and the hotel air conditioning was broken. Although it wasn’t hot weather it was a bit stuffy.

Our room was a good size and everything was clean. The flush handle on the toilet did return after use

On arrival I had to wait for someone I tried calling but no answer so eventually I had to go through the door to the kitchen to get someone to come and sort out my registration and key card. Not what you want with a 3am arrival. I then asked if I could have a wake up call for 6am as I had no phone alarm volume for some reason, they said they could not do this but my tv had an alarm. After 20 mins of trying I had to go and find someone again, no one at reception again and the gent confirmed that my tv did not have an alarm function but offered to change the one on the wall for a different one. Now about 3.45 I wanted to get to bed not wait for a new TV so the gent said he would set his alarm and come and wake me at 5.50. The gent never arrived and fortunately I had a freind who called me at 6am otherwise I would have slept in and missed my flight.

The pull out sofa was out when we arrived to the room, and there was what appeared to be blood stains on it. There was questionable stains on the sofa, ceiling tiles in the bathroom were falling off. We got no where with staff when we approached them with concerns.

Super convenient (10 mins walk, follow signs for mid term parking), great rooms, good dinner menu, excellent breakfast. Recommend. Would definitely again.

The reception staff were great no issue. Room was fantastic very clean and comfortable. Now the downside… the restaurant where shall I start. After asking twice where our food was after waiting 1hr 20min I also had to chase it up again. When we finally got our food the Hunters chicken was practically inedible, the chicken was a breaded chicken which I find strange as that was not highlighted. The chips were not skin on fries as advertised. The chicken was dry, chewy and massively overdone a sauce on the side wouldn’t go a miss if you intend on cooking food to death. The bacon was so tough was so difficult to eat. The only good part of my meal was the bit where I got to leave and go back to our lovely room. I don’t think it would stop us returning to the hotel but we would never eat at the restaurant ever again. A waste of £47! I did mention my complaint to the young boy serving but it wasn’t really acknowledged so we just chalked it up and won’t ever return to the restaurant again.

The shower was not easy to use. The water temperature kept changing.

Overnight airport stay, clean, efficient, decent food. The only negative the room was a bit too warm for us. Aircon was on full and a fan. Apart from that very good and in walking distance of airport.
