Hilton Lake Taupo

Wonderful character about this property. Very friendly welcoming team of staff and fabulous views across the lake and to the snow-capped mountains. An impressive range of choice for breakfast options, lovely pool, gym and steam/sauna rooms and an all round wonderful and memorable experience. We will definately be planning to return.

Lovely original style property, comfortable rooms, heated floors and luxury king bed! Great sleep and great stay!

Great place to stay, nice spacious rooms and heated hot pools. Resteraunt is great for room service and buffet breakfast.

Nice comfortable room with convenient basement car park. Limited dinner menu. It was a pity we had to share our garden patio with scaffolding erected for building repairs.

We loved the pool area and swam both days we were there.

One night on a trip with friends, Just right food on site was great

Wonderful stay

I found the majority of the staff were excellent. But the bar staff (not the manager) didn’t understand what is expected. Eg both staff talked to each other in their native language and didn’t acknowledge patrons who went to the bar for service. No eye contact or acknowledge that they were waiting. All the other staff we came across were excellent.

Really enjoyed the overnight stay.

Overpriced for the standard of room. Mould in shower and a carpet wearing out is not what I expected from this premium priced hotel.

Staff were fantastic. Very helpful and attentive

Our main-floor room was accessed by going through a very tight hallway with 2 very heavy firedoors which were difficult to open and in quick succession, making it feel like a bit of an obstacle course. Very difficult to manage the luggage cart. For our second load of luggage, we ended up going in and unlocking the sliding glass door to patio and bringing in luggage through the patio. Bathroom was due for some maintenance-- grout needed work and the threshold between carpeted room and tiles bathroom was missing, leaving a ragged carpet edge between the rooms which was strange. Otherwise a nice room and comfortable

Excited that we received an upgrade. Suites could do with a little update as it looks a bit older.

While the staff were very friendly, we felt overall it was a let down for the Hilton. We were unaware at time of booking that the room we booked and paid significant money for would not be the one advertised in the photos e.g ground level , no bathtub instead a very dated and somewhat dirty shower and shower curtain. Further more we received towels on the second day with holes in them…the hairdryer didn’t work and sounded as though it was about to blow up at any point and our bed sheets over the two days - at check in and even after a cleaning service had dirty stains on them. We also dined at the restaurant on our first evening and waited 40 minutes after ordering or drinks to receive them..the food itself was lovely and can’t fault that at all. As it was booked for a birthday getaway we just felt a little let down by the experience at a renowned chain and for the money we paid.
